Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines crash

Here's the problem, Vampire the masquerade crashes right when it starts to load. I double-click the icon, the logo appears, the screen goes black, and then it jumps right back to the desktop.
I've contacted Activision about this but they gave up after a few suggestions.
I've tried swapping my Ati Radeon 9600 out for an Nvidia Geforce 2ti.
I've tried the newest drives for the Ati and rolled back to the 3.7 drivers.
Activision suggested I try copying all the files to my desktop from each cd, I guess to see if there were any errors along the way, but there weren't.
Today I scanned the first cd with UltraISO and I get a read error "at 1273". I don't know anything when it comes to disc errors... I've reinstalled the game and there hasn't been a single problem. Also, I ran the same UltraISO scan on WarCraft III without a problem. Could it just be that I have a bad disc?
I'd appreciate it if someone can help me out with this. Thanks!

Also, whenever the game crashes, this error shows up in Event Viewer:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 7.
