Hey CGers:

I was thinking about purchasing the system Jeff posted in the steals and deals thread here: http://www.consolegold.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2053

I have never had an LCD before and I was wondering are they as good as a regular monitor for gaming.

Here is the monitor for that system: 19" E193FP LCD

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=320-4087&c=us&l=en&cs=19&category_id=2999&page=external

If someone who has this or a similar LCD could comment on how good it is for gaming I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

After reading the link on the Dell page, i saw this:

"Fast 16 ms response time"

That's excellent. I would guess this monitor would be excellent for gaming. Go for it! biggrin

I just got the 1905FP from Dell and it looks amazing. (you can see it in my pic in the "what are you sitting on thread in PC gaming).  My 1905 is 20ms, but has DVI. I don't believe the one you listed does.

I believe you are correct, no DVI on the E195FP model, according to this comparison page

I have the same question about this 19inch dell monitor.

I'm considering this DELL deal (as described in the original post).  But I'm only going to use this rig for gaming.  I've never owned a LCD monitor.  Is the featured 'FREE' LCD monitor good enough for gameplay?

Well, Torfish. It seems the big draw on this deal is getting that 19' flat screen for free basically. Jeff says the refresh rate is under 20ms so I guess thats good enough. That would be my biggest worry about the LCD. I'm still on the fence but getting closing to taking the plunge.

If anyone has any insights on this monitor for gaming, please let us know.  :!:

Personally, I think the deal is pretty damn good, even without the monitor! don't wait too long, it ends at 11pm CST tonight.

Again, i can only speak about the 1905 which is my first LCD and is specifically for gaming (with my new XPS gaming rig).

I have put this monitor through the test, Doom3 maxed, 3dMark, etc. and it looks awesome.
