Nice and Smooth -- Well, sort of-- Memory Speed Question

Ever build your computer and didn't run into one problem?

Well today that was me.  I just upgraded from a Intel E8400 Dual Core, MSI P45 Neo 3 Motherboard, and 4 GB of Corsair Ram (can't remember the spec) to a Intel i7 3700 (should have ordered the K series, wasn't thinking) MSI Z77a-GD65 and 8 GB Corsair DDR3 1600, and the only issue I had was realizing my soundblaster and wifi card won't work with my mobo because it does do the old PCI.  Not a big deal, I only used my wifi card because I was experiencing some weirdness on my old motherboard.  Not sure if it was my mobo or the provider.  And now I'm just using the onboard audio and I'm sure it's better than my old soundblaster.

I even took the extra time to wire it correctly so that there's very little clutter.

I went cheap and didn't order an aftermarket cpu cooling fan/heatsink.  I think I'll be doing that now that I'm seeing my PC at 107F....  However according to various website that's normal range for stock. 

I already had a SSD and man with Sata 3, it's even faster than what I was running before.  I also have my ATI Radeon 6970 and I'm waiting for BF3 to download so I can try that out.

Anyways, last time I upgraded my mobo/cpu/ram it was a weekend ordeal with all sorts of issues.  Today, nothing went wrong, and I'm quite proud of my choices.

That's saying something, Ken.   I can't say that I've ever had a completely clean build like that.   Running anything in particular to 'test it out'?

isn't it a nice feeling? my first time was a little rough, and I had to get some paid help involved, but my second time was nice and smooth.

well I spoke too soon.  I just noticed the ram is running at 1333 instead of 1600.  I was warned it would happen and I would have to manually adjust it.  I can't find where to do it.  I looked in the bios and I see the speed, but there's no where to change it.

Any ideas?

solved.  thanks to Insgrimnur, I enabled XMP, and was able to select the speed
