needing help with a video card..

i have AMD 64 x2 5.0 / 2gig ddr2 memory and i am looking for a video card either nividia or ati doesnt matter just the best one for the price and that would be $200 i am looking at 8800 9800 4850..i am not really into pc games anymore so i just wanna get read for diablo 3 and etc..thanks for the help.

your computer is pretty close to what the one im building now is. i went with the 4850 both because it looks really solid and it was 150 on sale. However, I can't tell you how good or bad it is. I don't have the entire system ready yet. From the reading around though it sounds like the 4800 series is a great card.

Since we have idea when Diablo III will come out, the 4850 would be your best bet.  Shop around and you will find one between $150-$170.

If I were building a rig for an upcoming game, I would leave the video card purchase as the last thing right when the game hits stores. Use your old card in the mean time, because as time goes on, new cards come out, prices go down on current cards, and it might even happen that when the game comes out, you'll notice that you might have been better with the $210 card than with the $170 card, so you can make that kind of tradeoff at that point.

Ah, then that changes it of course... You always have the option of getting a $50 video card now and getting a ~$200 better one when that game comes out. The $50 card will probably be better than your motherboard video is, so you'll be able to play all your current games in the mean time. Since the tech always moves and prices do as well, you might actually be better off having spent $250 total ($50 today, $200 later) than if you spend $200 today, depending on how much time away "Diablo 3 and etc" is.  Just consider the different alternatives and do what you think is best.

I have an 8800 and its a great card, but the 9800 will be another iteration above the 8800. Don't know anything about 4500 - won't have an ATI

Personally i'd do a bit of googling for comparisons and see what comes up.
