Hiya-

My linksys seems to be pooping the bed.

i don't know anything about N and G and mixed and dual bands...

Here's what I connect, what kind should I get?

3x Ipads wirelessly
XB1 wired or XB 360 wired
Primary PC wired
cell phone wirelessly
work laptop wirelessly or wired.

I have turbo internet from TWC so i get 20MB down and 2+ up and use a Motorola Surfboard SB6121 modem.

Would like to spend less than 100.00

I'm looking for ease of install and something that will last more than 3 years.  Brand recommendations appreciated.

Thanks!

NetGear, Linksys (Cisco), and Asus and good brands.
Get wireless N. Dual Bands can be useful if you have interference, but then you need a dual band adapter for your device, so, regular N is usually good enough unless you get a REALLY good deal and want to prepare for a possible future upgrade.
Most are easy to install. Sometimes programming them to get the best setup can be a little daunting to someone who hasn't done it before, but basic setup is pretty easy.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320062

Replaced my departed D-Link with one of these, after researching around.

Solid router. Not the fastest anymore, but unless you're streaming high bandwidth movies over the wireless, you won't miss. Bittorrent doesn't crush it and leave it whimpering, the fate of so many.

Sadly, not compatible with third party firmwares, save for one russian outfit I found... can't remember name atm. But no tomato, etc.

ATB, thx for cursing mine too! Tongue My good old linksys also pooped the bed. My ps4 wouldn't connect to it, which I've never seen before. After a reboot it worked for a little while. Now my iphone sees it, but, also won't connect !!! It's not my net, it's the router. Any ideas on a fix, or more realistically a replacement without breaking the bank? Also, I'd love to be able to set it up wirelessly.

Screw the haters! Apple airport express and AirPort Extreme. The best, easiest to setup, and most stable routers I've ever used. Much more loyal than my last girlfriend. The reviews on Amazon don't lie.

I don't but I should.  I also have the Asus RTN16 and it's a great device, if not the fastest transfer any more.  plus it does DLNA from the connected USB devices.

I hope you're right - my ASUS has been dropping connections and Best Buy had refurbed AirPort Extremes available for $120.  I had $15 in credit so the final price is almost half of retail.

Too bad it won't get here until Tuesday.   crybaby

Does buying a refurb from BB give you the full Apple warranty? I know if you buy a refurb from Apple they give the same warranty as if it was new.

Love my AirPort Extreme, couldn't be easier to set up and use, but that is because the Mac app is pretty straightforward. How is it for non Mac users though? Is there a PC app for set up or do you use a web interface? If you have an iPhone or iPad there is also an app you can use to access it as well.
