My first monitor dies - in spasms

My Samsung Synchmaster 20" 3000:1 blah blah started to blink on me.  On powering it up, the power light would come on, and the screen would blink for a second then would go off and the cycle would repeat for 2 min to all day before it displayed the desktop. I figure this is some sort of LCD death throe so I'm thinking of just moving on. I was actually kind of suprised that this happened as the monitor has now been out lasted  by many poorer CRT's I've owned.  Just curious before I get another Samsung if their are some comments on the performance/price of other models.  I recently got a look at a 27" 50000:1 1ms Samsung and it was very prettty.

Your caps on the power supply have gone bad most likely.  You can fix it yourself if that is the issue and you
are able to do a little soldering.

My Samsung was doing the exact same thing.  I disassembled the monitor and it had 4 bulging caps.
Replaced them and the monitor works great.  I spent about $10 to fix it.
