Decided to try to play Ultima III from my old CD collection. Runs in Dosbox fine, but it's too fast. I downloaded Moslo Basic but I just get a beep and a black screen when running it that way. Any ideas on how to get it to work?

Did you try CTRL+F11 to slow down DOSBox?  I think DOSBox defaults to 3000 CPU Cycles (look at the DOSBox title bar), which is way too fast for a CGA-era game.  I have to cut it down to 500 cycles or so for pre-1990 games.

I don't think Moslo works on modern computers, from what I heard.  Because it works by slowing a computer's clock and the effectiveless is marginal at best on the fast computers of today.

Ultima V was pretty great too.

I have the Ult 1-5 box set, I loved all of them.  Ultima 3 was especially fun, since back in the day I found it too hard (it's kind of funny how going back to those games, they now seem too easy).

I tried to play III and VI in a tiny little dos box (I thought VI was a higher resolution than it is, either that or I had a Hercules card back in the day that doubled the resolution) and found the interface too annoying to really make a go of it. A very small map screen and archaic controls just take out the enjoyment for me despite the very fond memories I have of the games.

Interestingly I did find an OSX version of III that looks decent. I might try it out.

I just started Fallout 1, and it seems like it's going to be a lot more playable than the Ultimas.

I mean because of Ultimas are truly ancient, not because Fallout is a better game Daehawk. I played Fallout long ago, and while it is good, it's not Ultima IV in its prime.
