Memory Question

Alright, I am getting ready to drop anothe gig of RAM into my system, and say Best Buy has Kingston Technology 1GB PC4200 DDR2 DIMM Memory on sale for 95 bucks a stick.  Now, I have 1 gig already but it is in the form of 2 sticks of 512 meg DDR2 PC2-3200.

My question is will the Kingston work fine with my current memory or am I better off buying 2 sticks of Kingston?

Generally for memory, if you have two sticks of different speeds, the faster one will clock itself down to the speed of the slower one. So thus, you're wasting the extra money on the faster memory, as your system won't ever see it.

Is the speed difference between 3200 and 4200 noticable?  I can deal with the new memory running slower, especially since 2 gigs of the memory I'm looking at normally runs about 300 bucks (BB has a $65 off sale right now).

Also, I looked around and getting a couple of 1 gig sticks of the 3200 runs about the same price as the 4200 does, so I may just grab 2 gigs worth at this price.

That price for RAM is still steep, now that I think about it.

Both guys I trust when it comes to my RAM. Oddly enough, Kingston's version of the same thing is $228.50 on Newegg. *shrugs*

In addition, I do believe that you have to get this RAM in pairs. Digging through Newegg, the only way you can buy this memory is in packs of 2.

I say this about Newegg: If they don't have it in stock when it comes to computer hardware, then I have no reason to buy it.

It also tends to be the cheapest (or within like $5 at worst) around.
