Title says it all.  I have both  a PS4 and Xbox one and only want to spend money on one headset.  I'm looking for both audio and mic quality and I'm willing to spend for it.  Is there something out there that does or will work with both?

Astros, or at least the Astro Mixamp will help bridge both XB1 and PS4 usage. The only problem with them was price, but if you're willing to pay, you have options.

You can probably get some kind of auto switch that will let you use pretty much anything, especially if you want to avoid changing cables.

The headset I use in that case is the Sennheiser PC360. Great sound, significantly better than what you get from most gaming headsets. Extremely comfortable foam pads. Great mic functionality, to mute it you just lift the mic until it clicks into the up position, and it's a solidly built mic too. The volume control is on the right ear, mic on the left. This means you don't have in-line controls to cause tangles or trip you up.

Thanks Turtle!  I'm checking out the Astro website now.  Since this is the first time that I'm an early adopter in a new console generation I figured some really good headsets would be a great investment.  When you live in apartments and have neighbours, you can't really have the big surround sound system.  Great headsets are the next best thing.

I can vouch for absolutely loving my Astro A40 + Mixamp for gaming in the 360/PS3 era.  I hope they're compatible for voice chat on the Xbone/PS4... I haven't looked yet if I need to get an adapter or something to make it work.

Even if the Astros aren't compatible with voice chat right now, you can get astrogaming will release some kind of update hardware that will make it work.

I've been gaming, and doing everything else, with headsets for many years now for pretty much the same reasons. You can't skimp on them since they'll be on your head for hours.

Wow, so the Astro A50's are $299 on the Astro website, yet I can get the exact same headset from Gamestop for $224.99?

You have to check and make sure that the mixamp is included, that thing is one of the reasons why astros are so good. It's an inbetween from your device to the headset.

Otherwise, you can probably find other places discounting astros.
