Hey guys, I am selling some stuff on EBay and think I have enough cash to upgrade my videocard through the EVGA step up. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with a 7600GT OC and if anyone could let me know if it would be a significant upgrade over my 6800 standard. That is really my only economical upgrade other than simply selling the 6800 and going with an ATI card-which I am willing to do as well. The trade up for the X1600 or x800 seems like a decent deal. Thanks all!!

Its much better than the 6800GS which itself is a great card. The 7600GT is what Ill be upgrading too.

Hey dae do you have a 6800 currently? If so, whats the expected bump in performance? If I am getting mid 20s at best at mid-high settings in oblvion, can I expect 50-60% more? That kind of thing.

I dont remember where I saw it but a 7600GT gets around 2000+ more points than the 6800GS is all I remember.

Calvin, there's an Obvlivion GPU Performance round-up over at Anandtech.com.

The have an identical article for CPU performance as well. It might help you figure out what the best card is as far as bang for your buck to play oblivion with.

I just upgraded from :

ATI 9800pro
Intel 2800 p4 w.ht (800mhz FSB)
P4c800 Asus board
1GB 3200 dual-channel RAM

to :

EVGA 7600 GT CO
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2 (dual core)
A8N-SLI Deluxe
2GB 3200 dual-channel RAM

I've yet to test it (still getting drivers and apps installed).

Did you end up getting the 7600 GT CO ? How much of a step-up was it for you?

Are there any good benchmarking tools that aren't going to cost me like MadOnions?

fyi, the eVGA 7600GT is a great card, but the fan is really, really loud. I replaced the fan with the Zalman 700 kit and what an amazing difference, but it did tack on another $30 to this video card.
