The install went wrong somehow, so I can't uninstall it the "official way" in Add/Remove Programs.   Is it enough to delete the directories and the files in them, then the registry keys for RealNetworks under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE ?  Will that exorcise this abomination from my computer?  Should I also uninstall and reinstall Firefox (the browser I was using at the time)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Could you try to reinstall it over the faulty install?  If that goes well, then uninstall the whole thing.

OK,  I ended up going to a file in the setup directory called something like rp1clean.exe (read about it on a web forum) and that uninstalled it.  Then I reinstalled it and uninstalled it the "legal" way, and installed the latest version of Real Alternative.
