I currently have a Core2 Quad 9300 or somesuch thing with 8GB RAM.

I need to build a second system - I have plenty of hard disks (including a 240GB SSD and a 60GB SSD). Something that is quick and can handle my new GB GTX 760 OC - looking to get a mainboard, processor, ram and power supply - already have the rest.

Must-haves:
USB3.0 (prefer 4+ ports)
Built-in audio of decent quality

I don't want built-in video, and I'd prefer a modular P/S.
I think I'd rather go Intel, though if there is a good reason to go AMD I'd consider it.

I buy mainly from www.memoryexpress.com or www.ncix.com (tigerdirect has been less-than-price-competitive). www.computeravenue.ca is also local to me. If it's amazon.com, then I might be restricted. www.Newegg.ca sucks balls.

I don't have a ton of time to research this either - I generally enjoy this kind of thing. frown

CPU:  I'd go with an Intel Core i5 . You can get a solid one for around $200 (if not less).
RAM:  You want at least 8GB of DDR3.  Personally, I went with 16GB for gaming, but there's probably not a huge difference.  This is going to impact which motherboard you purchase, as well.
Power Supply:  I'd go with Modular if you can, and the overall wattage isn't as important as the constant amount of wattage on the 12v rails (I believe).   You definitely want at least 2 if not 4 6-pin connectors on it.

personally I'd wait a bit to see how the new consoles are going to affect the cross platform game specs.  I put off my planned upgrade until spring of next year, I figure by then we might have a decent idea how current rigs perform with games like Titanfall coming out.

I'm painted into a corner, need a new rig.

I picked up:

Intel Core™ i5-4570 Processor
MSI Z87-G43 Motherboard
8GB of Kingston DDR3 ram

And a second case and power supply.

Yeah. The power supply is an EVGA 750PS, and the case is a Cougar (German company). We'll see.

Purge looks over at his EVGA 460GTX that keeps crashing, and sighs.
