Did you guys originally get your invites from Google or from someone else with Googlewave?  Because I don't think I have any invites right now.  I can't remember whether I had any right away with Gmail or whether I had to wait or not.

I had 20 from the moment I signed up - there's a wave I can use to send them out with...or at least so it seems :-)

So did you get your invite directly from Google or from someone else?  Does it say INVITES! In big huge letters? Cause I'm just not seeing it.

if any of you guys still have an invite and could send one my way i'd appreciate it...very curious to check out Wave.  if the invite is tied to an e-mail though, please contact me through PM first...would rather link it to a different e-mail than the one in my GT profile.  thanks!

FYI - I got it about 6 hours after I was invited in. And it's pretty generic looking - "so and so has invited you to preview Google Wave". But since it came from Google itself, odds are very good it'll get through Google's filters and land directly into your mailbox. And it'll come from [email protected].

And you'll need to make a @gmail account (or sign in with one you already have) to use Wave, BTW. You'll get a 'click this Google link to get approved for Wave' e-mail in the end.

Finally - my Wave account is up and running. If you'd like to invite me into the GT Wave, give me a ping, or whatever Wave uses. Razgon knows my e-mail and whatnot if you need to use that.

Well, why not. If anyone has an invite to spare, toss one my way. My gmail address is tied to my profile, so use that.

I'm not talking about the invites that you receive.  I'm talking about the invites that you can give! I want to invite other people and I'm wondering how long I have to wait before I can do that.

I've added you Tokek, but you probably know that ;-)

Now, since no-one seems to read the wave, hehe, I'll ask here - does anyone actually use this for anything, i.e. starting new waves and such? I havent, and I dont see the use of Waves to be honest. It kinda reminds me of a forum actually. The only thing I see as a good functionality is the ability to have several people editing the same document, but thats about it.

I don't think Wave will come into its own right before loads more people use it. When it can replace email, particularly for communication between groups of people, I can see it being more useful.

*When* it can replace email? huh -why should anyone want it to replace email? And as for discussions between multiple people, just CC someone?  And if you want your discussions to be open to the public, there's a billion other ways of doing it, for instance this forum ;-)

It reminds me a bit about newsgroups, most of all, from what I can remember of them when I last tried them about 10 years ago.

I'm guessing there's some crucial thing I'm not getting here :-)

Most normal people don't have a forum to go to. I would completely agree that Wave cannot replace GT.  And it's not really meant to. I see it as a way of communicating for family and co-workers.  The only way it will work though is if Google can make it ubiquitous.

you made me look up a word, bastard! ;-)

anyways, thats probably true about the "most people" part... but then again, those most people who dont have a forum, will they be interested in new technology? It has taken ages to get most people to use email, so yeah - google will have to turn gmail into a huuuuge proponent for Wave as well for this to take hold I guess

I agree with Raz, at the moment the only reason I am checking it because I have it on my default tabs at home. If it wasn't I certainly wouldn't keep going to that web page - even facebook sends an email to make you go and look again. I can't see people who don't use forums/ng's etc being that interested in it. The only way it could possibly work that I can see is to link it make it more seamless with your email client rather than being a seperate page - it could really draw people to gmail if it did this.

Interesting though and I will keep it as a default tab - the GT wave is quite fun smile

I do agree that Gmail integration is necessary for widespread adoption.  I don't like having to go to a seperate webpage.  How do you add it as a tab on your homepage?  Do they have a  thingamabob for it?
