cpu temp

So last weekend I upgraded my Pc to a Intel i7 3700 and ive notice the Cpu running hotter than I'm used too. Its a stock fan/heatsink and when its idling its at 44c. When playing bf3 ive noticed it jumping to the low to mid 70s.
Should I be worried? I'm not experiencing and issues like bsod or screen tears.

Ivy Bridge runs hotter than previous, due to them using thermal paste for the heat spreaders, instead of soldering them in as they used to do. (solder transfers heat better, apparently).
From looking around, apparently intel raised the TJ MAX for ivy bridge to 105c from previous chips, so you're in the safe, and average, zone.

Ok. thanks!
I did end up buying the Cool Master Hyper 212 for $25 at amazon, and I'm debating if I should return in and save some $$$

Well I did end up buying this
Lowered my temps about 20 degrees. I'm not so worried about it now.

That particular heatsink has over 2600 5 star ratings at Newegg and another 500 4 star. I think it's safe to say you made the right choice (it will probably be the next one I get as well since the stock i5 HS is adequate at best). I would love a 20 degree drop even though I'm staying well in range now...after I start overclocking in the next few weeks though it will make a difference.
