I'm partial to Panasonic plasma, but this is a fantastic LCD TV:http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIERA-TC-L47E50-47-Inch-LED-LCD/dp/B00752RABI/ref=sr_1_24?ie=UTF8&qid=1379311950&sr=8-24&keywords=Panasonic+plasma
free shipping. No tax. Ive purchased very expensive TVs from Amazon with absolute confidence. My friend payed the full retail price and liked the TV so much that he bought a second unit for his man-cave. My recommendation is to always stick with the tier 1 manufacturers: Panasonic, Samsung, Sony. Avoid Vizio, Westinghouse, Insignia, etc. The fit-and-finish, and overall build quality suffer somewhat in comparison to the previously mentioned brands. They are by no means bad TVs, but the devil is in the details.
in your price range I would personally get this, but as mentioned above, I'm very biased and vastly prefer to do my gaming on a plasma:http://www.sears.com/panasonic-50inch-class-smart-viera-reg-s60-series-1080p/p-05771531000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2
And btw, since you mentioned shopping at Sears, the LCD I listed above is MUCH better than this model you may be tempted by at Sears. this one is fine, but the E50 has better features and specs.http://www.sears.com/panasonic-50inch-class-smart-viera-reg-s60-series-1080p/p-05771531000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2
good luck hunting for your new baby!
