So my Xbox 360 and PS3 are currently fighting over who gets to use the home surround sound systems The receiver only has one optical input so I was wondering if there was any way for the two systems to share it somehow without me having to buy an expensive system selector type accessory (I couldn't find any at best buy for under $100).

I have this same problem. I found the easiest solution for me was to just run both optical cords to the back of the receiver and just plug them in when I need them and unplug the other one. It's not the best solution but it beats spending $100.00 to do it for you.
