Ticket to Ride – The card game

Has anyone played this? What are your thoughts?

I enjoy the regular game but don’t play that much because of the size and looking at the little trains get my dog excited. So I ran across the card game and was wondering if it is as fun as the board game.

I own it but have yet to play it myself, sorry.  But, I have heard a few reviews on the game via different podcasts, some say if you have one you don't need the other but another said it is different enough to warrant getting.  Having read the rules back when I got it I will say that in place of blocking others routes the screw the other player mechanic in the card game almost sounds nastier in a way, which I like.  There is a bit of memory game mixed in with your normal Ticket to Ride game with the card game though.  You complete sets of cards that you then put into your own train yard face down and you can't look through it later so you have to remember what colors and numbers of trains you have in that pile and if you have enough or some extra to match up with more destination tickets.  I don't think it is the gateway game that TtR is with new players, the board and those plastic trains make it real easy to teach the game where the card game is a lot more abstract.

I haven't played either.  It appeals to me, but we're still trying to spend more time playing other games I have sitting here like Agricola and Hamburgum.  I'll definitely have the TtR Card game on my Christmas list, so I suppose I can give you my impressions in about 4 more months.
