Where Do You Draw the Line on Game Related Collectibles/LEs/Exclusives?

Ok.  I bought the Mass Effect prequel novel.   Now this has hit my desk.  The  Gears of War limited edition strategy guide.  It is a beautiful package with the standard Gears strat guide but also has another book that contains the art of Gears of War.

As a fan of the game I'm well pleased with it.  I would not have paid full price for it, but for under 10.00 it was a steal.

That said, I've never ordered a special limited edition/collector's edition of any game.  I know that the bonus stuff will just collect dust in a drawer and I don't need the clutter.  However, I've heard good stuff (though I can't confirm as I've not seen it anywhere) that the Bioshock CE is supposed to be neat.

Anyway, when where and why do you or don't you buy the peripheral stuff as mentioned above?

I too tend to get the Collectors edition if I can. Thankfully, i don't buy guides etc otherwise I'd have to rent space to store my crap.

Yea, I typically get the CE, but I almost never buy guides.  The exception would be Final Fantasy titles it seems...

What do you people do with all those "collectibles" besides, collect them?  I mean do you display them for X years before trashing them or keep them forever, sell them?  I'm constantly battling clutter and I've started avoiding all this stuff as besides some satisfaction of having it, they do nothing for me.  This isn't to say that I think it's dumb to collect stuff, rather I'm genuinely interested in what you do with the stuff.  Does the Knightshade house hold have a trophy wing?  Is there an ATB library of exotic strategy guides?

I purchased the CE of SWG because it was my first MMORPG.
I played for about a year, and sealed it up in hopes that it will be valuable someday.

Guides ruin things for me, and for the most part I cannot afford CEs.

I used to always get the collector's edition.  Lately, I've stopped, except in a few circumstances.  If the CE is in a more attractive metal case that is reasonable sized (FFXII, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Halo 2), I'll get the CE.  If the case is larger and not as attractive (Prey, Gears of War), I don't want it.  The extra stuff inside the case usually means nothing to me, since it will either sit in the case, or on my shelf.  Mostly, I'd rather have more attractive packaging that anything else.

Of course, this means that I also picke up the CEs of WoW and Burning Crusade, because they look awesome, and come with some wicked sweet swag.
