The should re-issue the Dark Tower board game

and maybe spruce it up a bit.  I'd love to be able to play it again without having to track down an old copy and possibly pay a high cost.  they could maybe make the screens mini-lcd's and have better quality sound effect.  I wonder if they could ever work anything out....

I think one reason they haven't is that it's one of the bigger board game collectibles.  It fetches quite a pretty penny.

Actually, some enterprising iDeveloper might want to create an iDarkTower app that simulates the tower and keeps track of the score chart with virtual pegs. All that one would need is a printable map and some fiddly bits for the pawns.

Maybe call it "Tower of Night" to avoid copyright infringement.

I owned this game back in the day. Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of lost its appeal at this point?

I mean, you walk, get hit with a random battle, watch to see if you survive or not. Go to the bazaar. Get lost every once in a while. It had a cool gimmick at the time, but what kid would appreciate it for more than a few minutes these days?

Ah, you just brough back memories of my youth.
Spent many of long weekend nights playing that game.

Heck, the digitized sounds from the game still resonate in my head. (probably part of the problem  )

I played it once at a gaming con back in the early 80's and I can't say I was that impressed with it. I remember thinking at the time you could do better with a C-128, Apple II or PC sitting on a table linked in some meaningful way to a boardgame. I think it was 1 of the motivating factors though, for some college friends and I to create our C-128 DM screen programme for AD&D. My experience with people in my boardgame circles these days, is that they want to get as far away from computer tech as possible when they play. Even just using Excel spreadsheets to track SW Mini games has gotten me some unfriendly looks at LGS meets.

Last summer I saw how much the original was going for on eBay and called my sister up to see if she still had mine, back when I first moved out in '89 most of my childhood toys and stuff somehow got stored in her basement.  She told me that they had recently thrown it away in the last couple of years because it looked like the batteries had been left in it and it corroded the thing.  That was the second of two valuable games I thought I had in good working condition stored elsewhere that turned out to be ruined now.
