Yep, that's right a Starcraft boardgame.
Basic idea is players are terran, protoss, and zerg, They fight both in space (on a galaxy map) and on planet using smaller planet maps for control, presumably to get more resources and other bonuses to destroy the other players.

Linkage and/or maker? I'm hoping it isn't Fantasy Flight, or they at least revisit their concept and not just reuse the Warcraft BG rules.

It is from Fantasy Flight. It's going to be one of their huge box games, which means a ton and a half of cardboard and plastic. According to them, it's going to be played on one central galaxy board, with land combat taking place on nine smaller, separate boards.
They talk about Starcraft and the rest of their '06 lineup in the newest rant on their page.

Definitely not a rehash of the warcraft boardgame. More like something to the level of the World of Warcraft game, a big $80 box full of components.
I especially like that idea of a galaxy map then having smaller planetary maps to fight land battles on.

That is a huge list. I don't make enough to buy what sounds good on that list. Their flaws aside, I really like Fantasy Flight's work...this looks to be a strong year for them.

It sounds like what was used in Titan...though I don't expect this game to be the same. The fact that the game is diceless also intrigues me.
