I have owned a copy of this for a long time, since before it became Khet, and the pieces were all gold and silver.
In that time, I have not won a game of it, ever, against anybody. It reminds me that I am insanely bad at abstract strategy games, like chess, and I should never, ever play them.
And yet, I can't bring myself to get rid of it because, dude, LASERS!

Khet rox all games, period. It was Deflexion in a previous life, but Khet apparently has some improvements. Better packaging, better manuals, stronger lasers, and 2 extra blocking pieces for better strategy. Also don't forget to get the expansion to Khet. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/25572

A Yankee Swap with friends has been mostly hijacked by the ladies and become "gender neutral" (read: vacuum cleaners, blankets, toothbrushes instead of DVDs, and games). But board games are often included there. I think I might just pick this one up, wrap it and try to take it myself -- looks like a good find!

What's the point of that sort of swap thing when you would rather just buy the game for yourself? You have 100% chance of walking home with what you want if you don't bother with that.

Well this way there is a chance I'll get something I actually want out of the swap, versus a vacuum cleaner or electric toothbrush. Funds a bit tight after Christmas, so otherwise I have 0 chance of really getting it until February...

Just curious... how easy is it to see the lasers? Does playing it in a brightly lit room make it impossible?

You see the lasers illuminate the pieces or when it hits a wall.

You see the lasers illuminate the pieces or when it hits a wall. We have a smoke machine from Halloween, we play with that aiming down on the table and the lights dimmed... Looks totally rad...

I played it with my wife once... she complained about having to figure out where the laser would go and we haven't played it again. I was saddened... and I kicked her ass soundly.
