Pretty much as the post says. Anyone here a big fan of TI3? Anyone like it a lot but want to share some of it's faults? Any house rules that work really well for your gaming group?

I've read enough posts abroad and in BGG that stress that the ISC is kinda broken, and that dreads are underpowered. Comments, opinions?

We've played TI3 several times and love it, although we've never had more than 3 players.  ISC has never been a problem in our games, mostly because none of us are interested in "WINWINWIN" and would rather play it like Master of Orion - slow build up of your empire.  By choosing the Imperial Strategy card, you are forgoing many of the much better situational cards (Logistics & Technology in particular).  Unless your goal is to race to 10 victory points and thumb your nose at people, it won't be an issue.  The only real problem if people ignore it entirely is that new objectives won't be revealed.

That being said, we did try a variant where the ISC worked different - the one that Fantasy Flight suggested.  I thought it worked well, and exposed all of the objective cards from the start.

The game is great fun and definately worth picking up.  I'm hoping to someday get more than 3 people together for a bigger game.

Some of my old high school group and I are headed down for our friends lakehouse this August.  We have a tradition (started with TI 1!) of always playing Twilight Imperium when we are down there together.  This will be our first trip since TI3 came out, so I'm looking forward to getting a great 6 player game in. smile

I've only played the game a bit so far, but from what I've seen that ISC works okay as long as everyone understands how important it is and if everyone understands that the game generally plays better if more focus is put into bringing down the leader.

And when he had failed to find these boons in things whose laws are known and measurable, they told him he lacked imagination, and was immature because he preferred dream-illusions to the illusions of our physical creation
