Yup. Rather than take shots, I decide to go with immersion therapy. Spent yesterday at Zoombezi Bay, bathing in the local germ media.  My plague should be at peak efficacy in time to wipe out the Greater Midwest geek community.

Don't even joke.  Origins before last I picked up a horrible friggin' cold off the office moron (you know the one, they're always proud of the fact that they're "tough" enough to come to work when sick as a dog...never once thinking about the fact that they're giving everyone else their freakin' illness) and spent two of the three days holed up in the hotel room on flu medicine.  This weekend was spent resting and getting ready.  I don't want another repeat of that crap.

No issues today, but be forewarned that I will appear to be carrying something, as my allergies are more than happy to remind me that nowhere is safe.

well I got good news and bad news.  the good news is I'll be in all the games I signed up for with you guys, the bad news (depending on your point of view) is my late night gaming might be limited since I'm going to be having company stay over at my place  and the dogs aren't used to her (and vice versa), so if she needs to leave the con for sleep I'll need to head out too.

Just keep slipping her caffeine and Sudafed. Fatigue will be the least of her troubles. At least until Monday.

I'm picking up my rental car this evening, and will be headed down this evening after rush hour to scope out the parking in the area and collect my registration goodies, so I'll be good to go for my 10am event tomorrow.

Game on!

I'll be in Hall D at GB7 for my first two events. It's on the left wall as you enter, just before the Rogue Judges sign.

So, I can confirm that Hepcat is indeed not a bot, but the jury is still out on Isgrimnur.

My nerd rage this evening would have put any bot rumors to bed. I wound up in a game of Isla something, and got errata argued into a position where the other guy argued a move directly to his advantage, which then led the next turn to a direct screw job. If he'd said one more word to me after"good game", he would have gotten one warning to walk away from me before I decked him.

Isla Dorada?  That game leads to fights all the time, from what I understand.

I just got that from Amazon the other day.

That's the one. The game runner told me today that the advanced rules that he hadn't read specifically calls out the routes as they are intended, as they permit destination hoping by water.

In the interest of not continuing to vent my spleen as a burden on him, I did not ask which way the issue would have been resolved. But I did thank him again for running the game and putting up with me.

sorry about missing this morning guys; I made the mistake of thinking I could safely lay down for 'just a bit' around 5am this morning after hanging out with a bunch of people at the bar last night.

so, next years Origins is May 30th to June 2nd, and from the way people are talking I'm wondering how much of a con there will be.  it sounds like one of my favorite games won't be run at all next year, and word was going around most of the exhibit hall guys were just breaking even so it'll be interesting to see how many of them return.  the whole con itself felt less crowded than usual too.

oh, and we had a special guess:  Joe Biden.  apparently they decided to have a Democratic State dinner at the convention center on Saturday night.  I should have cosplayed as a secret service agent.

[edit] almost forgot, I did see another forum goer going by the convention center a bunch of times:

Spoiler for Hiden:

I had trouble getting a good picture, so I had to do some digging.

note to self:  don't schedule any games with ceekay next year.  sheesh.

at least I made Mansions (which I got one of my friends to pick up) and we got to play some Ascension (which is a great game and it sucks because I couldn't sell any of my friends on it  icon_evil).

Honestly though, I'm not even sure if I'm going next year.  2 of the groups that run games I play aren't sure they are going to be able to make the earlier date.  of course if I do go I'm not letting myself schedule any games before noon- I had 3 9am games this year and didn't make any of them.  of course neither did the little lady  paranoid

from what I understand they dropped the ball on the program schedule.  leaving the full names out of the program, accidentally listing events at times they weren't supposed to happen or listing 2 different events by the same group as happening at the same time.... kinda makes me wish WotC would step back in.

I wonder how much origins will suffer next year due to the schedule change and the frequently mentioned lack of attendance/enthusiasm/vendor participation/etc. this year.

damn, Looney Labs won't be coming next year:

Quote
Unfortunately, this is not a good time for us. First of all, the new dates are uncomfortably close to the Memorial Day weekend, a time when there are already at least 4 other major events we have to choose between attending. What's worse is that the date change moves the event from summertime to the school year, and while we don't have children, a huge percentage of our participants and volunteer staff do. Even if they don't bring their kids to Origins, they can't go while the kids are in school. And many are in high school or college and will be studying for or taking finals on these dates, others are teachers who will still be teaching or will be giving said finals. A large percentage of our volunteers will be needing to choose between skipping school and skipping the event, and school will likely win. It takes a huge team of volunteers to run this event, we simply can't hold the Big Experiment during the school year.

they sum up what a lot of other people have been saying.  I may have to consider GenCon next year.
