I picked this up yesterday-only cost 9,800 yen DOH! Oh well I guess that's the costs of living in Japan. This will be my first miniatures game-I hope I enjoy it!
Anybody else into this one? Any must have expansion packs that I should pick up?

Road to the Forgotten Forest is almost mandatory because of the trees and bridge. I'd say at least two of those so you have enough trees to make things actually look forested. The castle is neat, but you really need multiple sets to build anything of consequence.
As for the figures, just get what looks interesting. Some are definitely better than others game-wise, but the whole game is so light and goofy that I don't really care that the cybernetic gorillas are mediocre, I care that I can have cybernetic gorillas fighting next to samurai and zombies.
There's tons of maps available online, though I find building my own is more fun, and actually quicker than following the diagrams. This usually results in huge maps with obscene hills and as many caves as I can manage to construct.

A friend of mine and I play it quite a bit. I've gotten most of the collections. My friend has studied and other than the Cro Magna (which he feels are too strong), he feels that each character is well balanced for the points they receive. Great, fun game to play, as long as you don't have someone who cheeses and hides in their starting area.

I found it fun and pretty easy to get in to. I only wish I had more time to play these days.

One more thing. If you get a lot of figures, get a tackle box to put them in. It will be a lot easier to find them in there than searching through boxes.

Trees are important are they? I was hoping to maybe pick up Memoir 44 but unfortunately they didn't have it. Hopefully I can get in a game this weekend maybe!

Trees aren't vital, but they do help break up line of sight across the map without haivng to use a ton of terrain pieces to create hills. Also, I think it just looks nice to have a wooded battlefield. The road and bridge pieces in that set can also be used to set up some interesting crossings over water or over chasms. There's also a way that you can create a double-wide bridge, though that may require more than two sets.

Just played my first game last night. Quickly went through a basic game and then jumped into the master game. Wow! the master game is clearly superior! I had a great time-lots of strategy and what not. I hope to play again next weekend.
