There are about a zillion pirate games out, but I wondered if anyone had played these:

Pirates of the Spanish Main
Dread Pirate
Pirate's Cove

I've played Pirate's Cove.  Fun little game... nothing special, but a good game for a general gaming group.

I haven't played Pirates of the Spanish main, but I've heard pretty good things about it.  Mostly I've been avoiding it since one should only play a certain number of collectable games at a time or risk going insane. smile

I played Pirates of the Spanish Main last night and it was a blast.  Very accessible for a CCG, and you don't seem to need to go crazy buying cards.  I'd recommend it.

Those who want to add a little fun to their Pirates of the Spanish Main games -- and who have access to a large color printer -- you can access NOAA's Nautical Maps database and download some really great maps of US coastlines.

I've been playing a ton of pirates of the spanish main recently.  Beware, it's a slippery slope to collecting obsession.  But mechanics are simple, ships are cool, and you can keep the game in a binder.   Very much a beer and pretzels game, but we can play for a few hours at a stretch and still be highly entertained.
