I was checking out GW's LotR strategy mini game with the thought of possibly getting it for my son for his birthday. Then I noticed that the starter set sells for $75 CDN and really doesn't include many figs. I'm curious if it's the same price in the US or if, like many miniature/board games, it's a whole lot cheaper there?

They've got it priced a couple of different ways on their website.  70 bucks US for the hobby set, but 60 bucks for the basic game.

You'll probably be able to find it cheaper on-line, but due to Games Workshop's weird web policies, you generally have to contact the store via phone or email to actually place the order.

edit - looks like The War Store sells these minis at a discount, but I'm not sure if it'd be worth it once you factor in shipping costs to Canada.

Can five murderous vagabonds heroes save their world from a roman empire knockoff the forces of evil?  Apparently so! Find out how they did it in the only best D&D game in General Analog Gaming!

I've used this site a few times. http://www.scifigenre.com/itemList.aspx?sid=QRYY0XMH11V101Q&nSubCategoryID=135&nExpandToID=2573 You can order direct from them, at least until GW finds out they are doing it.  They are selling the set for $51.25.  Don't know  what the shipping would be to Canada. I second the War Store recommendation. Great place to order from. CCG armory is another good place to get a 20% discount on GW products.

Man, if they had those sets back when I was into the miniatures thing I would have been a dead man!  It's tempting now even when I don't have people to play with.

I forgot to thank everyone for the feedback earlier, so a belated thanks. slywink With the current exchange rate on the CDN $ + shipping it's looking like it's just as cheap to buy here, if not cheaper. After some thought I've decided to just go with some Battlelore or Star Wars Mini's expansions for my son's birthday. I wanted to intro my son to the painting side of things and I recently across some nice examples of painted Battlelore figs, so I think will start with those. slywink
