The Poker craze is SWEEPING the nation and I thought hey, there's gotta be some addicted poker players here at CG and perhaps we could get a night going where we play some poker? I'm sure there are many different free online poker services...we'd just need to pick one, pick a night, and b.y.o.b. First come, first serve.
I'm not really into poker, but I think it could be fun. Anyone else see any sort of potential in this idea?

I might be interested, but to be honest I'm not knowledgable about online poker sites. Any links to some I could check out by any chance?

I've fiddled around with "play money" with the http://www.PokerRoom.com application. No credit card or anything like that needed to sign up. Pretty fun stuff!

Sounds like an interesting few hours of social time. I have a friend that plays every weekend and loves it, but I'm not much of a gambler. I used to play in college every weekend, but since we were basically broke we just played with spare change. Nickel ante, 50 cent max bet. Basically an excuse to hang out and drink when we couldn't afford the bar scene. I'd play, but just to hang out, not for cash money.

I think we're talking about play money here, not real money...unless I'm misunderstanding.

IN!
(especially if I can convince Jacktard to join us! If he's as bad at poker as he is at just about every other game he plays, none of us will leave the 'table' the biggest loser).
Name the night.

Ok did we ever get any resolution in setting this up? Does someone want me to take charge of this since I am an absolute addict? there are plenty of places we can create our own tournaments, preferrably with a 5 dollar buy in or something low. Those types of tourneys are lots of fun and need only be 2 or 3 tables for some good action and the cahnce to make a few bucks and not lose much. Lets get some interest here, maybe a list of people that are pretty sure they are interested in this and if you would like me to start more formally organizing it.

eek, no money - I don't even want to lose 5 bucks. I am pretty crappy and I think it would be more fun with no money. No pressure. Maybe you hardcore players can have a money tourney.

Ok we can start freeroll with the option of a cash buy in separate tourney. let me look into it tomorrow when I am not going on no sleep for 36 hours

I would also most definately be interested in playing. I play on one of those sites now that lets you play free money (Poker Stars I think it might be)
I would like to use a site where we can use play money and still setup password protected rooms. I do not think we want internet goobers ruining our game
