BGG, the biggest board/card gaming website on the planet suffered what looks like a tremendous database failure on 8/8. http://www.boardgamegeek.com/servercrash.phpThey've been down hard, I really really hope they didn't lose any major data. That place was a treasure trove of information! Just 3 days gone by and I really have some withdrawls~!

Never heard of the site, care to give a brief overview of what sort of content they offer Kobra? I used to play a lot of board/card games, but not so much anymore, need to get back in to it.

It's a huge archive with virtually every board game ever released indexed.
On each game's page, you get the basic info on number of players, age rating, time requirements..the usual stuff you can get anywhere.
People who have the game submit their rating (1-10). So with the huge number of people that are members of the site, you can get a pretty good idea of what games are good or bad.
Their forums have an area for player text reviews, AARs of play sessions, modifications, and the like.
And there's a picture archive as well, so you can see how it looks.
People also buy / sell / trade their games on the site, though I've never used that part of the site.
It's the biggest and best known boardgame site on the 'net. Was, anyway.

I will throw in my two cents and say it is a great site. Sad about the hardware failure.

Rumor has it, they have some new hardware on the way to fix things up, but no idea on the database integrity.
However, once/if they Mr. Bass is considering mirroring some of the top games over at mrbass.org incase BGG ever drops again. We'll see how that goes, but man, I need another board game site to hang out at STAT when BGG goes down. :?

Glad to see them back. I was thinking about picking up a new card game for a road trip next week, and I wasn't liking the prospect of not being able to check reviews.
