Apparently the humorous protest route didn't work, so I'll just ask straight out: Do we need 12 threads about Dragon Age (9 of which have come up in the last two months)?
Maybe it's just me.

It's just the famous Forum Effect. If you can believe it, we once had gobs of active threads on Hellgate: London, Tabula Rasa and Age of Conan. Heck there was probably a time (before mine here) where there were lots of active threads about Auto Assault and Earth & Beyond. Give it time, and it will pass. Yes, even for Bioware games. I'm sure when SWTOR comes out, the first page in MMOs will be nothing but SWTOR threads. If you mean, "why can't we just have ONE thread for the game and throw every post in there," well, that's like trying to herd cats.

Yeah personally it drives me nuts. We have a thread that turned into a performance/technical thread halfway into it, then another thread gets started that deals with similar issues. However I understand why that thread was made because the other thread was such a haugepauge of topics. We should have one impressions thread (spoilers included, by using the spoiler button, just like we did for Uncharted 2) then I'm fine with a single performance thread, and a tips and advice thread. I think all discussion could easily fit in those three threads without cluttering up the boards.
Making the supposedly humorous threads wasn't helping at all.

Irony.
Just so we're clear, it's not irony to call out irony on an ironic series of posts. As to those posts not helping at all, I disagree, but you're in charge (and thanks for the "supposedly"). However, moving this thread to the wasteland isn't doing much, either.

It's still better than in the Hetz days. We had separate threads for Oblivion's tree-rendering systems, guard's boots, comparisons between Argonian scales and lizard scales, etc.
Okay I'm exaggerating a bit. But only a bit.

This always happens and complaining about it generally does no good. Especially with games as large as DA because a generic spoiler thread won't work because you may spoil something 5 hours into the game or 80 hours into the game. So there are naturally people who don't want to wade through a huge threads just to get specifics on gameplay tips or perhaps need technical assistance. Then you've got the fact that this is a major release for both PCs and consoles and some people won't go into the other's subforum.
Eventually things will sort themselves out.

Actually, the Dragon Age threads both here and on OO have become a rather strange phenomenon in one respect: The lack of respect for the posting of spoilers.
There's spoilers everywhere in those threads, and they are posted incredibly casually. There might be a general gameplay discussion, and then someone might say something like "I need help with *named boss* in *named area*" or even worse: "When you get to *named location* you get *named object* or meet *named character*". It's absurd. For such a story-driven game, I'm amazed at how easily people will toss about spoilers and references that show people where the plot is going to take them.
It's like when someone casually mentions something like "You'll love *named character* in season 5 of this show!", which pretty much removes all tension from that character in the first 4 seasons because you know he'll live.
So WTF is it about Dragon Age that suddenly makes people post spoilers like there's no tomorrow? I can't remember it being anywhere near this bad for any other game.

I think the PC DA thread has been pretty good at using spoiler tags, I haven't been in the console version one that much though.

Clearly, you guys need to create ANOTHER thread, entitled "Dragon Age *WITH SPOILERS*" Just don't tell the thread op here that I suggested it!

We shouldn't have to create another thread for spoilers. In the past, I'd say yes, but now we have the spoiler button that works perfectly.

Except people aren't using it half the time in the Dragon Age threads, when they are good at using it for any other game. It's this that I'm having a hard time understanding. Few things in the game come as a complete surprise to me simply because I've browsed these threads.

That sucks, it worked quite well in the Uncharted thread. I've also seen a lot spoiler button use in the PC version of Dragon Age. I'm not saying your wrong, people should put them under a spoiler tag.

Maybe Ron's mad scientists can create a "parsing script" with sentient knowledge of all things Dragon Age and thus automatically add spoiler tags when its "spoiler sense" detects Spoiler data in one's GT forum postings. Yeah I know it's crazy but it's 2009 fercrissakes! I thought we'd have gullwing cars, laser pistols, flying cars, routine travel to Mars, and an end to world hunger and war. If we can't have that, can't we at least have automatic Dragon Age spoiler-parsing???????? I think I'm kidding, but programmers can surprise you...

They do it right at Gamerswithjobs (not a criticism of GT).
They have Catch-All threads. Seperate thread for Spoilers. If someone starts a new thread, Certis nukes it.
