I think I was still in high school when the site redesign was first proposed. If it's not going to be released any time soon can we at least have a little information about it? Will there be much of a change in forum design? One thing I would like to see implemented into the forums is something similar to a "Gamerscore" where you earn points or experience or respect for posting useful answers to questions and stuff (not for spamming the forums). I know some forums have an option where the thread can be turned into a question and if someone provides a decent response to the question then it changes into an "answer" thread or something like that and the person answering the question gets rewarded. I think the EA forums do something similar like that. Or if someone starts a thread that turns into pure awesomeness (the NSFW thread springs to mind) then readers could click on a button to reward the original poster for starting such a great thread (even if it was completely unintentional!) Anyways that was just a couple of ideas I had. What would the point of a forum score be other than E-peen? Well I think you could use it to reward posters. Get a forum score of 50 and you're allowed to change to a custom avatar, get a forum score of 100 and you can have a signature. Get a forum score of 150 and you can customize your title under your avatar. Those kinds of things. I think that would be cool. Some possible achievements for getting forumscore/cred/respect Register with GT forum +5 points 6 month registration +5 points 12 month registration +5 points 100 posts +5 points 500 posts +5 points 1000 posts +10 points 10,000 posts - 50 points Provide the correct answer to a question +5 points Make a useful thread +5 points Make a GODLY thread +15 points Post in the wrong forum -10 points Create a useless thread -10 points Some points would be awarded automatically (posts/registration, etc) and others would be more subjective. For example, for providing a solution at least 2 people would have to click that this post provided the solution. Or for a thread to be determined as GODLY then at least 50% of the people posting in the forum would have to click on "GODLY thread" or whatever. Anyways that's just a few ideas I had and it tells me that I have WAY WAY too much time on my hands this vacation. If you need me, I'll be at the library.

Will there be much of a change in forum design? At this stage, no, there are no plans to change the forum design or add any features as far as I know. Maybe Ron could look into some kind of plug-in that does what you are talking about, but the site redesign is purely focused on the front end of the site. And I swear to you, we will have an announcement very soon about that. Due to the fact that the redesign has gotten to near DNF infamy, that is all I will say for now.

There is a Karma system built into the forum software that would sorta do what you are talking about. The hitch is that most people don't want to be judged, and it may deter people from posting.
As for the redesign....uhm...I really REALLY want to tell you guys stuff but I can't quite yet. Give me a few days...
