Maybe I'm getting old, but I find the idea of promoting pimps crosses the line. Now understand that I had no problem playing Mafia where I killed numerous innocents. So what right do I have to claim the moral high ground when it comes to pimps? None, really but...
Pimping is much akin to slavery. Would CG advertise SimPlantation? How about Slave Trade Tycoon? Perhaps the slavery comparison is overstating. Maybe pimping is more like indentured servitude. Would CG advertise Wife BeatDown or ChildSale?
What do you think, am I just getting old and stodgy?

I moved this to Forum and Site Feedback. As for an answer to your question from my perspective:
Evil Avatar runs a Pimps Lord ad as well, as I'm sure many other sites do. In the case of Evil Avatar theirs is a bit more prominent that ours as we've chosen to have the Sammy Darkwatch and EA's Goldeneye: Rogue Agent ads take the featured spot on the right side.
Mike Dunn (th'FOOL, site artist) also re-did the front page for Pimps Lord and, bottom line, it helps pay for the site. If we see more advertisments with money behind it maybe we'd get rid of the Pimps Lord ad (it's Ron's decision).

I'm still trying to figure out why he didn't call it PimpLords.... Personally, I went through a moral check when I evaluated working on his site. I eventually came to the decision that it was actually much tamer than many of the popular games out there such as GTA:Vice City, Manhunt, etc. I guarantee that if those companies were seeking to put ads on our site we would in a heartbeat. I'm just glad it isn't furry porn

My take; IF you have no problem killing innocent people in video games then you have no moral highground when it comes to being upset over "pimpin"...afterall "PIMPIN' AIN'T EASY"
IF the world had no prostitutes there would be no pimps...don't hate tha' playa hate the game. The game being prostitution. Just do what I do, play some GTA3 and beat the ho and get yo money back.
Personally I have no problem with a game with pimps in it. Which makes me ask the question, Why hasn't a recent GTA version had pimps in the game?
Now, with that being said I'd have a problem with a video game that had pedophiles in it, and kiddie porn being part of the game. I think a WHOLE lotta people would have a problem with that and it probably would be one if not THE most controversial games that probably would NEVER get made or sold on a store shelf.

Well, it really has more to do with making the site fiscally secure than anything to do with the content of that site. With community support, that won't be a problem and I'm more inclined to be more picky with what I chose to display. Lets see what happens when the dust clears...

I don't have a problem with the game itself, what ever it's about. It's just the ad. It says Pimp Lord and win 2000 USD. Looks like a spam ad/spyware installer. That's why I'm afraid to click on it. And yeah, I'm old too.

If you're curious Pimpslord is just an online game like Drug Wars. It doesn't install anything I don't think, it is Java or shockwave or whatever it is.
i would say it is R rated but it is just a turn based buy/sell game like Drug Wars or Space Trader. It is not my cup of tea but the mmo part is neat if it were something else.

I'd say advertising for a game like that is no big deal. Pimps do what? Exploit women right? Hehe, I've done much worse in a game than exploit a woman.

I still don't get the name...shouldn't it be Pimp Lords? If it is Pimps' Lord, then you'd be playing the god of pimps, right?
As for the furry porn, Th'Fool, I think that might cross the line.

Apparently our readership was not interested in the game. Despite our fantastic number of readers and repeat visitors, very few clicked through on Pimpslord. It will fade from view shortly....

Well I clicked on it, but I wasn't too interested in an a browser-based, turn-based strategy text MUD with me playing a pimp. I'm not sure how many strikes you could put against a game, but considering the crowd tha visits the front page is into Console gaming, I'm not surprised. I"ve been a hardcore PC and console gamer for a long time and it didn't interest me in the least. Sorry to hear you lost that ad support, though.
