We've had plans to get the forums, the front page, G+, facebook, etc. all integrated to all comments from all locations feed the same.  It helps spur conversation.  I'm going to put finances on that to make it happen, with any luck, before the end of this year.  I wanted to ask though...

What else would you like to see?   What other wish-list items do you have?

For frame of reference, this is an example of the software we'll be moving towards and how it can be implemented:  http://www.shadowrun.com/forums/

I welcome your feedback and look forward to making some serious improvements across the entire site.  smile

I don't visit here much these days, but thought I'd chime in so you get some feedback, and perhaps get the thread rolling.

I fear that integrating the forum into the frontpage will be the deathknell of it, at least for the elder generation of forumgoers you have here. It depends entirely on how you integrate it of course, but the shadowrun online solution is not very elegant in my opinion. I dislike that the forum isn't apart from the front of the site and that of course is a personal preference.

That said, I agree you have to do something, or the forums will be dead in a few years. I mean, just look at how little feedback there is over 5 days. Perhaps this is the solution? I don't know, but it will be interesting to watch, and I wish you the best of luck with it!

Which software is that?  Ive been pretty impressed with XenForo which is what they use over at http://brokenforum.com/index.php

Likes, quote notifications, inline videos, and overall general aesthetics.

I think it's a love/hate feature, but I'd really welcome some of those of agree/like buttons to react to posts. In some of our quieter threads where people are reading but don't have anything to contribute, it would be nice for a poster see their post get some reaction button presses to know they're not talking to themself.

What's the word on Tapatalk integration?  I've come to appreciate it more than mobile site navigation.

It would be great to have better integration with the front page reviews and topic discussion, but it might make those non-specific discussions drop off from awareness.

What's missing from Tapatalk?  Should be working as intended...is that not the case?

Sorry, I should elaborate.  Is there a tapatalk extension for the new software?

Yeah, I've seen this on some other forums and I think it's really cool to have those buttons for Agree/Awesome/LOL or whatever.  Especially as you say on here where people don't necessarily always have a response but can give some feedback and/or encouragement to the person who posted.

A recent example of this I've seen is the Marvel Heroes forum where they even go the extra step of having little achievements/badges for getting 100 Agrees and such.  I think that sort of thing can potentially really help encourage positive discussions

Obviously the biggest improvement would be getting new blood. Don't ask me how to do that though.

I don't particularly like the aesthetics of the Shadowrun forums you linked, at least partially because seeing where one post stops and another starts seems to all blend together with lines/borders and often times the header for a post is as large or larger than the text the person wrote.

I'm also not exactly clear how those forums merge in with what would be typical news or feature posts on the GT front page.

As for combining the forum and the comments, I think that could be a double edged sword depending on implementation.  Anything that requires linking to a Facebook or G+ or such account will be an absolute non-starter for me.  But I am definitely all for allowing unified forum logins for front-page comments, though.

As mentioned above, features like in-line video might be nice to have.
