Hoooray for science!  Thank you ebola czar!

Surprised it wasn't just moved to R&P, which would have served the same purpose.

Aww, I was really looking forward to bumping it in 2 months time when Ebola in the US is completely gone and asking Eco-Logic if he still thinks it would have been a good idea to SHUT IT ALL DOWN.

who started the Ebola thread?

Because that is bad form to delete a thread.  It's one thing to delete when there was a mistake/ or duplicate thread, but to delete a whole thread because maybe you didn't agree with something is something that is discouraged.

When attempting to access it via google results, there is an error:

Quote
An Error Has Occurred!

The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function FFCopyright() in /home/gtroot/public_html/forums/Sources/Load.php(1742) : eval()'d code on line 417

We did recently have a database hiccup that might have caused an issue.  So before you pick up the torches and pitchforks, there might be a technical explanation.

 Torches and Happiness!

Of course, it was an Eco-Logic thread, and I do see a Remove button on the first posts of threads that I've started...

I didn't realize the thread creator could remove it at any time.

Wait, what? You shouldn't be able to delete a thread once other people have posted in it. I thought it wasn't even possible to delete a post once it's been read by other people.

Well let's continue on. How many people in the US have contracted Ebola since Eco Logic had his latest meltdown?  50? 10,000? Inquiring minds want to know.

There is in fact a remove button!

IF, however, Eco removed his own thread, I think he should be temp banned as it's just pure bad form (and I've gamed with him in the past and like him from those experiences).

Speaking of Eco-Logic, I'm curious how people feel about the increasingly provocative line of signatures he's been using these last several weeks.

The first one I noticed was a broadcast that anyone who wanted Governor Rick Perry to resign was "part of the problem."  Just after the first report of an Ebola outbreak, he changed it to a warning that President Obama is acting against our best interests.  That apparently didn't get the reaction he wanted, so the updated and current version reads:

Quote from: Eco-Logic
This signature is not personal, at all.  If you're not awake enough to realize our country is being taken down by an organized effort from a puppet chimp being controlled by a movement older than me.  Wake the freaking fack up.

I cannot think of anyone else on the forum who would be so classless as to spam every single post they make -- again -- with their shrill political agenda.  However, if someone did, other people would at least have the option to open a thread in Politics & Religion where a frank exchange of ideas would not derail the 'What Are You Buying This Week?' thread.  We don't have that option with Eco-Logic since he was banned from the P&R board for repeatedly telling everyone to fuck off every time he left GamingTrend forever.

Outside of his signature, I have not seen any examples of Eco-Logic trying to key people up.  He's clearly capable of contributing to the community in positive ways, yet occasionally, randomly, chooses not to do so. That's why I'm not calling for any specific action here, as I have no idea what to even recommend, but I'm interested to hear what others think.

Oh to be a fly on the wall.

Oh to be one.  Oh no Naednek, I can hardly contain myself.

Really?  AA, you were offended by my signatures?  I've edited it, and will promptly remove the reference to you.  I'll stop with the truthful signatures that I'm posting on a forum I've been on since high school.  Seems to be another sign of how far things have come.  I'll sit back and watch the ghost town known as R&P with the neutered responses from people I do consider a friend,  thank you Adam, and continue to be amazed by where we've come as a country (that was a restrained response in case you were wondering).  My signature will stay as it is (without the aa reference) and I hope and look forward to conversing with you about games.

Sorry to disrupt your little nest of opinions that all but a few are exactly the freaking same.  Will not happen again Senior Ron and Mr Naednek who is apparently truly deliberating on it.  Wow.

What would happen if you just kept your political thoughts out of Gaming Trend and used other outlets to express them?  You don't seem to enjoy what happens when you share your politics here, and nobody here enjoys when you share them.  If you keep them elsewhere, win win!  There are lots of other things we can talk about here, and things to go pretty well for you here when you stick to talking about that other stuff.

That's my response, and I don't disagree with you pug, but find it absolutely sad.

I'll take you're advice.  I will, wake up, will stay, but that's it.

Make a blog about all the things we need to wake up about, and put a link to it in your signature.  We'll all be sure to regularly check it and be enlightened by your wisdom, while keeping the GT forums free from stupid fights.

Perfect thing to post in your blog!  Maybe not quite as an appropriate in a thread about another thread about Ebola being deleted.

Eco, now that you've been run out of both OO and GT (partially), for the same behavior, you may just want to consider that the issue is not that anyone is trying to censor you, but we don't appreciate the way that you express your views and take steps to protect the character of our community.

The people on this board are capable of reading the news and you should deduce that they choose to make their decisions based on multiple factors, not just one poll that they don't participate in and that you seem so enamored of.

Rip and MSDuncan tend to have very different political views than many here yet they still manage to be able to get along on both boards.

Having people respond negatively to things you say is not censorship, it is simply the result of expressing yourself in the way you do. If you want to use the language you do there are outlets where you can do so comfortably. Stormfront, for example.

Stormfront, wow, that was witty.  I've not said a racist thing ever on here, so not sure where that came from Teg.

Sigh

One example was quoted in this very thread. Racism aside, you speak in terms about the president that other people do not use when trying to have a serious conversation.

Puppet chimp, lol, that wasn't meant to be racist but I can see why it may have been taken that way.  Sorry.

Very much a puppet, chimp was used in place of talentless imbecile that lacks the skill set to run a baskin Robbins, much less that most powerful country on earth.

Not the place though.
