Just an FYI from the feedback forum: Spoiler tags are no longer working due to the software update at GT, so be careful where you venture in this and the PC Gaming forum with regard to game spoilz. You'll still see Spoiler for Hiden: around the text, but there won't be a button to click on to reveal the text, it'll actually be in the body of the post. This appears to be retroactive to all posts so LOOK OUT!

Holy cow. Thanks for the warning on that one! That could have ruined quite a few surprises I'm sure.

There should be an established length of time for things to stay spoiler free. After 13 years I would say that the movie is question is just about out of that time. So somewhere between 13 and 50.

I think 13 years is outside the statue of limitations. If you haven't seen it by now and you were wanting to, what the hell have you been waiting for? I would say 5 years would be acceptable for most films, 10 would be pushing it. *Edit: Because it has to be added...

I generally go with the pop-culture litmus test (ie people who have never seen the movie probably still know the twist) which would include: Citizen Kane Empire Strikes Back Sixth Sense Usual Suspects The Crying Game (debatable since the movie has become kind of swept under the rug but at the time of release it got lots of buzz) Soylent Green and a few others I can't think of at the moment. In terms of gaming, I would probably only name Final Fantasy 7 on that list but I think the twist in Bioshock will end up there as well in a few years.

I never understand this argument- films don't age the way that games do and as tastes evolve as you get older it's very possible that you may only be just now watching some films from decades past for the first time. So why spoil something if you don't need to?

If someone asks me, I will give them ample warning, asking, "Do you want to hear how it ends?" to give them the opportunity to back out. Usually, they have no desire to see it and won't care if I do. I've had films spoilered for me and still enjoyed the ride. Same as if I read the book before I watched the film. I know the ending, it's about the journey. But does anyone at this point, watched it or not, not know the ending to, say, Sixth Sense? Or half of Shmupty's other movies?

I've had films spoilered for me and still enjoyed the ride. Same as if I read the book before I watched the film. I know the ending, it's about the journey. Sure, if people ask then by all means spoil it. But while I'm not saying this applies to you, I've seen many people who fall into the "who cares if you know the ending/twist because it's the journey that counts" assume that because they think that way then everyone must and see no reason to be respectful of other people's feelings on the matter. But does anyone at this point, watched it or not, not know the ending to, say, Sixth Sense? Or half of Shmupty's other movies?
Right, hence my "it's okay if it's entered the popular consciousness" comment above. Though of Night's movies, I think only perhaps The Sixth Sense and maybe Signs applies. I probably wouldn't assume that everyone knows the ending to Unbreakable.

Good point - once I started the game, later than a lot of people, I picked up the impressions thread from where it was then. I've played enough that I was going to read it from the start - actually today was the first day I was going to read it, lol. damn though. i hope that feature comes back soon.

Okay, I'll share my email Spoiler method and see if it works on GT: Spoiler: Choose "white" as text color - nope, there is no White to choose here... this is Beige though, and it works almost as well. There is no Light Blue text either, which would be perfect.Highlight to read Spoiler. Edit to ADD: oops, I forgot that every other post has light blue background, alternating with white background. Either way, Beige works...

Hmmm... forgot there was a black background, but can't you just change your text back to black? I've never tried that background, so I don't know if it's default is white print (and then maybe there is no choice for black text.)

Hooray! And it seems retroactive. I saw you guys fiddling with this last night when I went on. Couldn't get anything done, but it was worth it.
I also like how the quote boxes are a smaller font than regular posts now.

Why the Spoiler word is a slightly different font than what's usually used on the boards, apparently.
