Irony. I've logged a ticket with support for SMF and I'm working directly with their developers to try to get this killed. Forums 4x our size on lesser hardware don't have this problem, so they are interested to find out why as much as we are interested in never seeing it again. |

I'm working with the SMF guys. They are saying stuff that would require a PHD in code to understand, but it's not the search system. It has something to do with daemons, children, and other stuff that just sounds Satanic. I think I have an idea of what needs done now - just need to find somebody savvy enough to do it. Anybody here decipher this enough to actually do it safely? You might want to run PHP as an external daemon, set a limit to the number of children (I run 32, 16 wasn't quite enough), and use persistent connections. |
