Every forum I've seen attempt an ignore user feature ends up in a lot of confusion about who is reading who's posts, and an abundance of "well I'm putting you on ignore for that!" attention whoring.
There are plug-ins you can install to accomplish the same thing, but I think anything official is just going to end in tears.

The previous attempt to install the feature resulted in a retraction of it- in my opinion it caused more harm than good and broke the experience for some people. Sure, it works on other forums, but that may be an implementation issue as much as anything- We use a different software than they do. Personally, I feel that the 'ignore' function that comes with the user itself should be sufficient.

OO has an ignore user feature... Really? Is that the "add foe" button? Indeed it is. Actually, I think that's part of why the ignore feature works so well there. It's very low key, and there's no announcement on your profile about how many people are ignoring you (like what happened here). I think that was one of the biggest failures of the previous ignore feature here. |

I find them annoying as hell If you go back and look at any zeke implosion thread, you'll notice that I'm usually far from the only one going at it with him...and oftentimes i'm not even the most prolific. i also have a soft spot for the guy and usually we end with the internet version of a handshake. i've annoyed you before though, although i'm not sure why as i tend to go out of my way to be nice to you.  ah well, you can't please all of the people, all of the time. or, in my case, the danes any of the time (that's a hidden swipe at my old nemesis DArtagnan). |
