Not that I'm ever telling the YEAR, but my birthDAY isn't on the calendar. I don't really want to know another one is coming, but as my nephew and many others have pointed out - consider the alternative!Hint: Papasmurff and I have something else in common, besides the love of little, blue, cartoon creatures.

Is it your birthday today? If so, happy Bday Myto! All you have to do to get it on the calendar is fill it in in your profile. The rest is done by magic.

NO, NO, NO birthday today - or else, in October I'd suddenly be two years older than I am now! Profile... d'oh, now that makes sense! I guess you don't have Papasmurff's birthday memorized then, I'll have to try to remember to point that out to him...

Lol, I don't like to put every single, little, personal detail about myself on the 'Net, so I tried to fill in the "YYYY" part for the birthday with "XXXX." That didn't work, so I tried "- - - -" and "YYYY", nope... so now my official GT year of birth is 9999. I was afraid that if I left it as it defaults to - "0000" - someone would figure that was about right! I'm, apparently, very, very, very young!

Well, I actually couldn't care less who knows how old I am (in "Real Life")... I just tend to refer to personal details somewhat vaguely when posting online. It may be because I'm a woman and am somewhat used to being protective of myself and my information. I had a stalker when I played FFXI, which didn't help. Just ask Metalicorphan, he knows all about it, lol - and, no, it wasn't him! Or maybe, it's just because I know CeeKay is reading this! It also isn't helped by the fact that every year, a month or two before my birthday, I tend to think I'm the age of the upcoming birthday (sad to say, that's something I've done most of my life, lol.) Without doing the math, I couldn't honestly tell you how old I am right now, honestly. And it's almost 6:30 AM so it's not exactly Math Time... I do know that I am over 55 and under 60, though - and you are welcome to the information!

He was sorta stalking you too, Metal. Remember when he changed his game name and was shouting bad things about you in Bastok? Yup, good times, I still miss the game as well, though it nearly killed me. To my knowledge, he never made it across the ocean - though he lied about everything so who knows if he was even from the UK to begin with, lol. I just wish he'd stop sending me Friend's Requests every year or so...

Lol, yeah - I'd forgotten about the ALL CAPS that he loved so much. He really, really wanted attention, any way he could get it! And since we've veered so far off the thread topic (hey, it's my thread!) - quick question: is FFXIV an MMO? I'm sure I know this answer, but it escapes me now. And does it cost per month? That is the only thing that would save me from that game... I hope. I sense some very nostalgic "duo-ing" coming up if it's free and more user-friendly than FFXI. Oh, dear!

Final Fantasy XIV is an MMO. The battle and job systems will be different than the one previously used in Final Fantasy XI, which utilized experience points. Character races and monsters will resemble those found in Final Fantasy XI to allow players to create avatars similar to ones created in Final Fantasy XI. Group play has been de-emphasized, and now solo and group play have been balanced. Weapon use will alter "character development".

May all the gods in the universe help me - I read that article (which, truth be told, I think I'd already come across before and just forgot.) I am going to need a 12-step program soon. Hopefully, the economy they set up will be regulated in such a way as to eliminate gold farmers, crafting cheaters, and bots that people set up to fish and craft, etc. Either that, or cheating will be rampant and I will hear about it before I decide to play, and then I will be OUT! I hope.

well after reading this bit Nobuaki Komoto announced that while Final Fantasy XIV will include XI's job system, it will return to focus on weapons and skills, and will not have experience points or a leveling system. i may very well be out anyway...the last FF game i played that did away with the EXP and Leveling system..was Crisis Core..and i hated that

Well, knowing SE they will come down hard on cheaters, but also create the perfect breeding ground for RMT by making Gil too difficult to acquire....I'm hoping that this is not the case, but you know.... If any of you end up playing we MUST be in the same guild or equivalent! Here's a nice trailer to wet your appetite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmInz5hiN6A

Lol, no! He is a super-nice guy, who I've kept in touch with since FFXI days. I can't say the same thing about the stalker ... not even close. Konki is going to make an account on XBL, so I hope to see a lot more of him, here and/ or on my Friends List!

I'd never played an FF game either (since the one I played on the NES or SNES) - it was the Official XBox Magazine that sealed my fate. It came with a disc for the Beta of FFXI, and the rest was history, for me anyway. Besides, your "teh fails" at ironic humor - are usually better than my dubious "successes," so don't apologize for that, lmao! I may follow your advice to carry on, though - since I don't have much else to do with my time, really!
