I've gotten a lot of site drops today: cannot find site (in the middle of browsing), having to refresh a new post page (after copying the text) to get them to save, etc etc.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I've not seen any of that.  I'll check the logs when I get home though.

I've been getting a lot of slow and failed connections all day.  This is both at work and at home, both of which are usually fine.

Seriously.  This thread  occurred as a result of me trying to post a reply in Daehawk's avatar thread.

I'm betting that, at least for me, the site crashes (and sometimes appears in basic HTML) probably every 4 or 5 clicks.

I'm having to copy and paste all my responses in case the get lost as when I hit post, nothing happens. So I refresh, and if the site doesn't crash, I try to post again.

Is it just me/NC IP addresses?

it might be something local. I haven't had any issues at all, not even slowness.

I'm having issues as well. It'll be working fine, then suddenly not at all. And then it'll be working again momentarily. It's quite odd.

And trying to get in right now I had to wait some 30 seconds or so before the site allowed me in.

Well, Ron fixed it before, and he'll fix it again.

In roughly 30 days we'll be doing some major upgrades and some cleanup work.  I appreciate the patience from you guys - I know it is frustrating.

Got an SMF database table error of some sort for much of the last 2 hrs.

I don't know what that means but it sounded serious.

Actually, has anyone noticed an overall instability of a lot of popular sites, or sites that use similar backends/forums?

Is there some kind of worm, virus, or hacker war going on right now, or did a internet backbone router give out?

Yep, I had to run a repair on a database table after our brief downtime this morning.

Table 'smf_sessions' is marked as crashed and should be repaired seemed to be the sum of my attempts to visit last night.  Is everything okay now?

It looked like the entire site blew up at one point, and then after that, it just took some time for the forums to stabilize. Thankfully the crew have the site up and running again.

It was down for me a while yesterday. Then the main forum area came up but all clicks crashed it again. It finally was back to normal later on yesterday.

aww dont tell me this! it was much cooler when i thought it was the hacker war turtle mentioned!  all i could picture was the guy from cruel intentions (preemptive "shut up") and angelina whoever, and bragging about "sweet 24baud and pci slots" or whatever other stuff that so excited them

Yeah, I had some problems earlier as well.

That thread about how great GT was compared to the other gaming forums is looking like a bit of hubris on our part.  icon_lol

To be fair, I think there is at least a two month waiting period before firing.
