Can we move the 'new' button?

When I browse the forum, I exclusively use the 'new' button to enter threads I want to read.  When you go into a thread, you generally want to start where you left off, right?  Or at the beginning if you haven't previously visited? 

So if a lot of people are using the 'new' buttons as much as I am, would it be possible to move them to the left of the thread titles, instead of at the right?  As-is, the 'new' buttons can be anywhere along the horizontal spectrum, but if they preceded thread titles they would be lined up neat and tidy so you could just move your mouse cursor down a straight line clicking on all the 'new' buttons that interest you.

Possible to implement?  Difficult to implement?

Penny Arcade just implemented new forum software from Vanilla Forums that takes this idea even further:  the thread title itself acts as a "take me to the first unread post" button.  If you want to see the first page, you can click on the "1" of the page listing (and of course if you've never seen the thread before then you'll see the first post anyway since it'll be the first unread post).
