Anyone have trouble sometimes editing or replying to posts and getting told you already entered a post? Very annoying! I have to close the tab with this forum, log back in, and it works. Happens 4-5 times a day for me.
Any idea why?

I've had that same problem a couple times. I'm not sure if the forum has a timer that limits how many posts you can make within a certain time limit or what. Usually if I just go back to the thread and try to post again it works, or else I repeat that a couple times and it works.

Exactly. To prevent spammers. I can loosen the reigns a little though. I'll do that tonight.

Its wierd, I don't post for a bit, then spend time entering a post, hit submit, and get "You have already made a post"..
Argh.

You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh.
Getting that about 50% of the time I try to post or start a thread. What causes that? Its driving me nuts frankly.

Now that is odd. You shouldn't be getting that any more, and certainly not in any increasing frequency. I post more than anyone on this board and I've gotten exactly once. Have you tried clearing cookies and whatnot? (mostly the whatnot)

It did this to me on my Lacuna Coil post the other day. I even created the poll and everything, then hit Submit and it told me I'd already posted. Hadn't happened to me up to that point though.

This happens to me all the time. What's weird is, when I smack "back" to go try to re-submit, it refuses to re-submit (the button does nothing) and when I highlight everything and Control-X to cut it, the text makes it to the clipboard, but isn't removed! (It's like I "copied" it instead).
I always have to back out of everything and click "new reply" or "new thread" again and paste the text in. When I smack post after doing all that, it'll generally work.
I'm using the latest version of Firefox, btw.

Same issue. Usually its my first post in a while. It does not happen often, but it does. I've only had the problem with the quick replay field, not with a normal reply. Though, I usually only use the quick reply unless it doesn't work as mentioned above.

I've had the issue occasionally as well. Depending on my whims, either I use the Quick Reply box, or I open a new tab via the Quote button. Both have caused the 'you already posted' error when I try to post. Thankfully, all I need to do is hit back, copy the text, and post it via the other method. Works just fine then.
Not quite sure what causes it. It just happens every once in a while. Using Firefox, latest version, BTW.

Same here, happens all the time. I dont post a whole lot but when I do, I usually make 2 or 3 posts. The second and third say "you've already posted this" or something and hell no, I did not already post that! I could be posting in the off topic forum, head over to the console forum for something completely different, and it says I already posted that. I'm using internet explorer, so I dont think it's the browser, must be Ron's old age as he's getting a little flaky lately.. (After all he did turn 30 right? Are you running yet? Logan's Run.. )

I'll talk with the developers and see if it is addressed in the most recent patch. I was going to let that patch sit for a bit to make sure it is stable. Thanks for your patience guys.

any updates on a fix for this? I've gotten it with every post I've tried today. Sure, I can fix it by going back, copying what I typed, going back one more time, hitting refresh and then reply, but it's still kinda annoying.

It is in the latest release candidate, but I'm always hesitant about upgrades, should they go south. Could you guys put what OS, Browser, Resolution, last time you cleared cookies in here so I can try to figure out what is causing it?

At work: XP Pro SP1 with IE set at 800x600. I always clear the cookies daily to cover my tracks At home: XP Media Center 2005 with IE7 at 1024x768. Cleared cookies last week. It's not as bad at home as it is at work, and it's sporadic. I haven't had it happen yet today.

I hope there's a fix soon. I get it frequently, just recently I typed up about 3 or 4 paragraphs in the off topic forum and submitted it which it said I've already made that post. Clicked back and very nicely, all my text was gone. In the past I could click back, cut & paste it again after refreshing the page, but now it looks like it's killing my text before I can even go back and salvage it.
I'd say it happens to me about 1 out of 3 times "You've already submitted this post!" Can get pretty frustrating, especially if it's starting a new trend of deleting the text..
I'm using internet explorer 6.

Hope it works. It's rare when it hits me, but it does do it (and this is both at home and at work). Thankfully Firefox saves the post when the error pops up.

Hit me yesterday.
I've found that the 'solution' is to hit back on the browser. Click the preview button and then submit the post.

In my experience (yes, this still happens) this tends to happen when you have a bunch of tabs opened up to the site and once, and you quickly respond to multiple posts. Only thing I can think of is that there's a minimum set time limit on the forum that if you post beyond (say, one post a minute) the forum thinks you're duplicating posts.

There is absolutely nothing I can think of that causes this. The stuff you guys are talking about would cause global issues, not something isolated. I still have NEVER had it happen to me, and I hit this site FAR more often than anyone else. I'll get a backup done this weekend and try to apply some patches.

I dunno, Ron, I have no idea why this is happening. It only seems to happen at work for whatever reason, not so much here at home.
I frankly don't have any suggestions. But it's not like it'll keep me from posting one way or another.
