Wow, not one mention of Half Life.  I'm actually shocked

1: Half Life - The only game to live up to it's hype

I'll take Deus Ex over half life any day.

heck, I've replayed Deus Ex 2 more time than HL.  the end level of HL killed any desire for me to replay it.

3: Still being considered...

I was thinking of adding it as my #3 since I didn't put one.  I sure did absolutely love me some HL1.  2 was so blech though, that it ruined it a little bit for me...Matrix-style.

Not me. Deus Ex was a big disappointment. Half-Life was great, though I don't think I'd say Top 3.

#1  The Legend of Zelda (NES)

$2   The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (XBox)

Like others, the first two were really easy for me, hands down on both "favorite" and "time played."  I very rarely re-play games, but those two have been played through at least 3 times each.  What I can't decide is whether FFXI should be #3, since I was completely addicted for almost two years... but it almost killed me (not a huge exaggeration, either), so I don't want to say it's #3.

I agree with all the KOTOR and Deus Ex mentions, but I don't think either game quite belongs on my list - I'm trying to go past Super Great, to Epic.  If I went with Super Great, I'd have to paw through those and numerous others like Thief, Riddick, Eternal Darkness, Tengen Tetris, Dr. Mario, and on and on.  icon_confused

Okay, I've got it - my first FPS ever has to be on the list:

#3  Halo

It was a struggle for me to leave Half-Life and Doom off my list.  Both could easily be my #1.

I was typing up a long post about both, but I just figured, why bother?  I *KNOW* all of you know these games, so what more needs to be said?

Crazy town that is ruled by the Illuminati and afflicted with the Grey Death with a corrupt President and warring para-governmental factions.

That game was sheer awesomeness.  I've played it 3 times and have been itching to play it again.

Dark Cloud 2

See, I couldn't get into DC2 like I could the first one.  I can't explain why Dark Cloud 1 grabbed me, since everything should be wrong about the game.  I mean, managing your health, your thirst, and your weapon breakage on 6 characters?  ARGH!  And yet, I played it through twice.

Damn. I would be hard pressed to limit it to three, but I'll try.

1) KOTOR (XBOX) ~ definitely top of my list. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this game, and is the only game I played from start to finish multiple times to make sure I saw everything.

2) NFL Quarterback Club '98 (N64) ~ My best friend would come over and we would play 15 minute quarters, Cowboys vs. Steelers. It was the beginning of our "Championships of the World" (COTW) sessions which carry on to today's titles, usually the NCAA series. We both still talk about this game regularly though. He would always throw to Michael Irvin, who would push off every single time, and score a TD. Then I would alternate between two plays, either Jerome Bettis off-tackle right, or a deep post to Yancy Thigpen who would always dive and make the catch in the middle of the field.

3) Halo (XBOX) ~ I'm picking this for the multiplayer aspect of the game. This game had me and my brothers playing for hours, and has helped make gaming a social experience in my life. I almost picked Goldeneye for this slot, because it did the same thing. But Halo really expanded on what Goldeneye did, and I got a lot more enjoyment out of it.

Honorable Mention:

Diablo 2
Tribes
Railroad Tycoon 2
Counter-Strike
Zelda
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game

And actually, the game engine and story was hand-in-hand... I'd consider Serpent Isle as being episodic content... much like the last few Reboot episodes which were movie-length. biggrin

Huh, I've always thought FFIX had the weakest villains of any game in the series.  It's one of the reasons that while I enjoy the game, I typically list it below 6, 7, 10, and 12 on my must-play Final Fantasy list.

Myth The Fallen Lords

I think I just fell in love with you a little bit.

MTFL was way ahead of it's time. It's in my top 3 as well.

I think a lot of people didn't play it when it came out. It's still by far the most fun I've had online gaming and this was before cable modems and crap had become widespread so lag was a big issue. I wish the series hadn't gotten dumped by Bungie. frown I've mentioned it before but the 230 in my title is the highest ranking I got on the leaderboards for Myth. I had way way way way way too much free time when that game came out.  icon_lol Myth 2 was cool but it never dragged me in as much as the first one did.

Tough to choose, I think I will just stick to PC:

Civilization(all 4 of them) - because of the addictiveness of it all
World of Warcraft - pretty much the only PC game I play anymore aside from an occasional Civ 4 game
Myth II - loved the story, variety of missions and the setting

Some others that deserve mention:  X-Com:TFtD, Colonization, Panzer General, Baldur's Gate II, Master of Magic
