Your Highly-Awaited Releases of 2011. Day One Purchases!

So I just finished reading 1up.com's list of their most highly-awaited releases for 2011.. and I started to think what are mine. What are yours? Post only the games you know you will pick up on Day One. You ain't gonna read reviews. You ain't gonna wait for it to go on sale. This is the shit you gonna pick up on Gamestop at midnight.. or you will pre-order on Steam and install right away.

Here's my short list:

--Bulletstorm: Looks outstandingly chaotic, ferociously fun and unapologetically politically-incorrect. I usually don't play FPS games these days, but this one will be picked up right away.

--Diablo III: It will be out this year, dammit! I passed on sucking on Blizzard's addictive tit, WoW: Cataclysm. But, this gorgeous dungeon-crawler is gonna get picked-up on Day One!

--Star Wars: The Old Republic: It's my sincere hope that Bioware is triumphant were SOE failed--to create an utterly compelling Star Wars MMO. Everything I've read, seen and heard so far tells me they aren't gonna fail.

--The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword: I'm picking up a Wii sometime this winter just to play the Nintendo first party titles.. and this one surely will get picked up immediately when it drops later this year. Pick it up before it even hits the ground. Oh, yeah! I'll be swinging with my Wii-mote like a fool later this year.

--Nintendo 3DS: Technically, not a game.. but I want one, the moment it's released.

--Guild Wars 2: I expect to be totally addicted to this game. I spent so much time with the original Guild Wars, it's one of my favorite games of all time, and with all the revolutionary features, oozing-gorgeous art, and sheer hard-sweaty craftmanship ArenaNet is putting into this game, I hope to be spending hundreds of hours playing this beauty.

There's so much other exciting stuff coming out, but they're sequels, and not having played the originals, I don't dare say I'll pick them up right away. What are you picks?

The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Batman Arkham City and Mass Effect 3.

I am highly skeptical that Diablo 3 will come out this year.

I want to carefully read reviews of Zelda Skyward Sword before I give it a shot. I have not been happy with the direction the series took on the last 2 DS games.

Are in that category. Killzone 3 is coming out at a bad time for me (hoping to concentrate on FAWM) so I might pick it up in March.

Oh, Mass Effect 3 is out this year? Definitely that.

CoD8? I guess if everyone else is getting it. Who is doing it? Could be a stinker.

However, Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 is very temping.

LoZ Skyward Sword, Deus Ex 3, Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim and the new Tomb Raider game would be Day 1's for me. Out of those, the only 1 I'm sure is releasing this year is Skyward Sword.

I've got a lot of "wait and see" games, but those are the only three that would be day one, no questions asked purchases.

Games seem to go on sale so soon after their release these days, one my New Year Resolutions is to avoid buying games unless I'm particularly anxious to play them right away.

That said, these games already qualify:

Batman: Arkham City -- The first game was my 2009 GOTY.  I loved it so much, I played it back-to-back on the 360 and PC and made a YouTube video about it in the process.  This sequel is probably my most anticipated game of 2011!

Dead Space 2 -- I still need to finish off the first game by the end of this month, but I've enjoyed it so much that I already have the Collector's Edition of the sequel prepaid in full.  Issac's holographic interface is one of the most immersive and downright coolest HUD streamlines I've ever seen.

Zelda: Skyward Sword -- I know Twilight Princess was unpopular with a lot of people, but it actually unseated Majora's Mask as my favorite game in the franchise.

Diablo 3 -- StarCraft II didn't really catch my interest because it seemed like a highly polished version of an old gameplay design that holds zero nostalgia for me.  Diablo 3, by contrast, could simple iterate its predecessor with new classes, modern graphics, and that signature level of Blizzard refinement and I'd be all over it.

Mass Effect 3 -- As much as I liked Mass Effect 2 for its characters and vastly improved shooting mechanics, the main story arc felt a little anemic.  Now that I've earned the loyalty of all these great squadmates, I'm really looking forward to ME3 closing the trilogy with something epic for them to do.

Assassin's Creed 3(?) -- I had serious doubts about Ubisoft's plan to turn around a sequel to AC2 only one year, but Brotherhood substantively improved on every aspect of its predecessor.  The designers seem as responsive to feedback as they are are ambitious about adding new gameplay to the mix, and I honestly can't wait to see what they do with this franchise next!

HOWEVER:

I've literally never heard one word about this title until this one sentence, and that's already enough to add it to my watch list.
