new GI Joe game announced.

I expected there to be a movie-based game... I like that they've been so secret about it until now...

also, official game site is up!

Just to be clear, GI Jane and GI Joe are not related in any way and were never intended to be.

It was this moment that took the movie from being a little ho-hum to “holy shit, did that shark just eat a plane!?”

you mean related as in brother and sister or GI Jane was not meant to be a female version of GI Joe?

Nothing to do with each other in any way, shape or form.

not even kissing cousins.

The game will feature 12 G.I. JOE® characters

I wonder if that's more than what the old Epyx version had it in.

I really enjoyed the NES G.I. Joe game that came out a long time ago. There were a lot of characters and vehicles from the cartoon and it played well. I don't remember if I ever finished it, but I might have to fire up an emulator to see how it fares today.

We had both Action Force and G.I. Joe in Denmark. I was told that "Action Force" were fakes, and recently I was told it was just the EU name for GI Joe - but according to wiki it's neither. Just another range of action figures smile
But I didn't really mind mixing my SW, He-man, gi-joe toys so it didn't really matter much smile

Action Force USED to be a different line, then in the late 80's Hasbro simply started using GI Joe's as Action Force.  For a while, Action Force had it's own mythology, but "Action Force" kinda became the international name of GI Joe.  A lot of fans have integrated Action Force's former lore into mainline GI Joe.  The former publisher of the comic, Devils Due, also used the Red Shadows, Action Forces enemy group, into the GI Joe book and there's heavy rumor that this years JoeCon will feature a con-exclusive Action Force/Red Shadows set.
