RPGamer has the news that both Xenosaga 3 : Thus Spoke Zarathustra and a sequel to Baten Kaitos for Gamecube are in the works, along with a version of Xenosaga 1 and 2 for the DS.  Also, rather than the 6-part series it was originally planned to be, Xenosaga will end as a trilogy with part 3.

Well, I suppose it's nice that they'll be able to wrap up Xenosaga. Umm... Does anyone care about it anymore, by chance?

So, the borefest of Xenosaga comes to an end with number 3.

On a brighter note though, I'm glad to see that Baten Kaitos is getting a sequel. Didn't expect it though (how good were sales, anyway?), but glad to see it.

Is that seriously the sub-title of Xenosaga 3? If it is, I need to find a corner to vomit in.

I absolutely loved Xenosaga I, but II was an absolute and complete mess.  I hope the 3rd installment can redeem it somewhat.

Same here man.  Loved Xenosaga I . . . but the second was horrific.  Though, I did sludge my way through it.  All I have to say is - the third installment has a LOT of loose-ends to tie up for me.  There were characters that were pretty much INTRODUCED IN THE ENDING OF THE SECOND GAME!  So, Xenosaga III better:

a)  be more like the first
b)  tie up all of the loose ends of the story (which it probably won't)
c)  not incorporate the battle system of the second Xenosaga.  Bah I just thought about it.  Excuse me while I go vomit
d)  just be a worthwhile gaming experience

Baten Kaitos 2 has a good chance of being a great RPG.  They just need to refine a couple of problems I had (and probably everyone else) with the first game.

US releases are pretty much assured for both games, given the success of both in the US.  Baten Kaitos even sold better in the US than in Japan.  Gamespot has some details on BK2 here.

What odd timing. I just bought Baten Kaitos yesterday and am going to start it tonight. Here's hoping I like it enough to get the sequel! smile

Baten Kaitos was ultra groovy to the max extreme! I enjoyed the combat system more than any other game in recent memory. It also had shocking innovations such as:

1) frequent save points

2) no random encounters

3) the ability to turn off the voice acting if it grated on you

4) boss battles that didn't require you to die multiple times as you tried to guess what the developers wanted you to do to win the battle.

OMG hi Shion - will you be my digital girlfriend?  Yowza!

Ok, on a more serious note - the characters look like more of the Xenosaga II look than the original.  I'm OK with that.  What the heck is that weird flying battle-looking KOS-MOS screenie?  Outer space battle?!

Based on the limited screenies of the battle system, though, it looks like it MIGHT be pretty much like the second game's system with Stocks and crapo like that.  Aw poo.  But I'll be sure to play it - I MUST see how this trilogy ends!

Damn, Shion and KOS-MOS have gotten a bit... um... lighter in the wardrobe since I last saw them.

Anyways, I should probably fetch Baten Kaitos somewhere and play the game.

Bah.  Xenosaga I's Shion was much cuter.  Besides, KOS-MOS is a REAL woman...er, maybe not.
