Roll Tide!!!!

So with a new console approaching, I have given thought to changing my Live ID.    I'm guessing the only way to do that is to cancel Xbox Live and create an entirely new account.   My current Live ID has a number of problems:

1.  I used my forum identity that I originally signed up with for Gone Gold.   At the time I just used my work NT ID.   This ID understandably cause confusion on Live with people assuming I'm a Ms. Duncan, unless they know me on the forums

2.  I have moved twice and changed ISPs several times over the years.    My Live ID is still, to this day, loosely tied to an ancient email address despite the fact that I've changed it to point to another one.    It's a tangled mess of email addresses and IDs that are not consistent.

3.  I am developing a desire to create a new Gmail account that has a name that matches EVERYTHING.   In other words if it was Bingo (just an example), it would be Bingo@gmail, my Live ID would be Bingo, and my Playstation ID would be Bingo.    In this way I could worry about having a very strong password instead of trying to remember what the hell all my email addresses and IDs are and which ones are tied to which games.

So what do you guys think?   How much trauma will I go through if I dump my Live and PSN ids and go with one that is brand new and consistent across everything?   Should I make this leap?   Has anyone done something similar?    What should I look out for?

you can always change the tag through XBL if you want, although they want to charge for it.  Could be worth the money if you want to retain your achievements and stats.  I'd be considering this route if I was ever in the mood.

the biggest obstacle is finding a name not taken on both systems that matches a gmail account.  I took a relatively unknown geographical feature/character name and mispelled it slightly just to avoid the extra crap characters.

Not sure if you can change your PSN name, but if you have to dump the old one, you would have more than one account to re-friend everyone (or almost everyone  ninja)

Unless I'm missing something obvious, all you have to do is pay $10 and MS will change your name.  No need to cancel anything.

I think Ms is more of a traditionalist, so it would probably be just MsGah.  just don't try the MsGah Tonic you.

I would personally probably just go the route of doing the GamerTag rename thing that you pay ~$10 for, but finding a new unique name at this point in time is going to be very hard.

Oh nothing.... disregard the Barry White playing in the background and that you left your drink unattended with Ms. Duncan for a few seconds.  That fuzzy sleepy feeling in the back of your head just means winter is coming.

Quit spoofing on Ms.Duncan.

Now, in all seriousness, is MissusDuncan taken?

How about "Afathairyspider" so when Kato kills you, he feels a sense of relief (but if you kill him, he won't sleep for nights at a time).

Looking at that gamertag, my mind jumbles the letters to get "A fairy spider" or "A father spider".

Perhaps spaces.

Or SpiderKong!

We had a few file servers running OS2WARP that were retired about 8 years ago.

Loved it when new guys would hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to unlock the system. Tongue
