I fire up my 360 this morning and can't find my account. I get the option of recovering my gamertag, which in 5+ years i've never had to do. When i do so, my account is still gone with no avatar, friends list, acheivments, etc.
Something happen recently and how do i get my account back?

so i can log in and i see my son's account and gamertag. i switch profiles and i see mine with everything there, but it won't let me log in. gives me a message that says my membership isn't valid and i need to recover it. when i try and recover it, i get my son's profile and gamertag and not mine.

Yep it was hacked. Got the account frozen and they started an investigation. I guess about 700 points was added. Now i gotta call my bank and cancel my bank card. I won't be putting a cc on my account anymore. I feel violated.

My account got hacked July 30 and I canceled my credit card, and microsoft support is going to investigate. Okay, no problem I think. Since then I have been able to sign into xbox live with no problems, I thought that the only thing microsoft will do is freeze my account activity (like adding points or buying content). But as of this morning I will not be able to log in to xbox live until the investigation is over. Just like Xmann I am never going to add another CC to my account.

I'm just wondering how to log in since all my login info is changed. I've been wanting to play Pinball FX and i can't. I was hoping this gets settled this week, but looks like i'm being too optimistic.
I called my CC to dispute charges and there were nearly $80 in charges on Friday. What i can't figure out is why someone would do this? Why use someone else's account to get Live points. Can't you only use those on the account you purchase them on? Wouldn't the average person suspect a problem when you can't login and you call support to find your account is hacked? I don't know what the purpose of gaining access to someone else's account and buying Live points would do.

When my account got hacked, they bought Call of Duty: Black Ops (check your purchase history on the xbox live website - you'll see what was purchased), and then followed up by the hacker trying to ebay the account.

LOL, my friendly neighborhood hacker bought 10,000 Microsoft points and then tried to recover my gamertag on his xbox (not sure if you can recover gamertag on xbox.com)

Mine was hacked last week also. They added 10,000 Microsoft points, then spent them at 250 points a pop for "Generic Game" which MS says just means they transferred the points to a modified console.
Now I can't play any of the save games tied to my account and I have to wait up to 30 days to get my $75 back while MS does an "investigation". Even though the phone tech could tell immediately that a modified console had been used to transfer the points, since their system couldn't track where they'd actually gone or what had been purchased. Ugh.
Of course, MS says XBox Live Accounts can't be hacked - that I must have given my Windows Live password info to someone in an e-mail or a forum or something. Yeah, right. I set that account up when I purchased my 360 on launch day and hadn't logged into it outside of my gamer profile since.
MS needs to do more to keep modified consoles off of the Live network, ensure they don't have any points purchase capability and get rid of the incentive for hackers to steal account info and purchase points.

Ya i'm pretty pissed off i can't play a few things on Live since i can't log into my account. I called CS just to see what the deal is and of course i was told it takes 7-10 days for the investigation. I asked if i would get a Live credit since i can't play and he told me more than likely not. Great CS there huh.

missed the call from xbox live investigations, now I have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to get this resolved. Man you guys are scaring me. Why the rash of xbox live hacks?
I never gave out my password in any way shape or form, however my old password wasn't as strong as it could have been.

They're probably just going to ask you for your 360's serial number and console ID. Even though the original tech took that info from me, they called from the investigation team an I had to give it to them again. That was last Wed and I haven't heard anything since.
