In SSX Tricky on the PS2 - the first mountain ( forgot the name ) I could have my boarder just free fall down the mountain and still win. It was that little bit of fun that helped me find a shortcut. But that is different, for in game gravity took control. As for Joy Ride, well, I won't be able to let anyone know until after Christmas when the family gets the Kinect.

It isn't like he earned first place. When a game has a default forward motion for throttle it would be very frustrating to have "dead stops" everywhere. It just so happens that the physics of where he started happened to land him a decent line position to hit a shortcut and get him ahead. Perhaps there is also an on-the-fly competitor adjustment to make sure the race stays close. All that being said, it still doesn't look good. Frankly, I found Mario Kart to be pretty frustrating. This certainly is the pendulum in the other direction.

The absolute 'amazement' of Kinect Joy Ride. The game is SO simple, it plays itself! Either that or he controls it with HIS MIND. Sad. Very...sad. There is an update under the video that says it is believed to be faked. I've not played the game, though, to be able to offer up whether I believe that to be true or not. From what I read from elsewhere was that if you're sitting down, the game goes into auto-accelerate mode, as well as does some minor control adjustments 'for you' or something. It's like the game assumes you're a 6-year old and makes life easier. Or something.

I have to give props to Fitness: Your Shape for being a fantastic workout program (especially while I go through physical therapy) while being a fun game to play/excersize to at the same time. My wife who doesn't have that much time to go to the gym lately, plays everyday for about an hour and already she has been getting decent results

I enjoy the program as well but some of my Ti Chi movements aren't very pretty.

Oh and have you tried the Cross Ski exercise? I cannot for the life of me get in sync with the trainer even though I appear to be mimicking her exactly. Pretty frustrating getting past the tutorial for that one.

Woo hoo! My wife surprised me with a Kinect and Dance Central for my birthday. Didn't have time to mess with it today but plan on devoting my full attention tomorrow. I debated between Kinectimals and a fitness game as a secondary and wound up getting Kinectimals for my daughter. A friend of mine got me some Captain Morgan Private Stock, so we are currently debating an evening of drunken Dance Central tomorrow night.

Quick initial impressions -
Technology-wise, it surpassed my expectations. I was expecting it to be more laggy and less accurate, and was pleasantly surprised on both counts.
When my daughter started crawling we rearranged our furniture so that she'd have a nice open area in the living room. As it turns out, this is IDEAL for Kinect. I carefully calibrated everything for the best possible experience, and can say that if you have the right layout it is pretty amazing.
Dance Central is the most fun I've had with a game since Rock Band. We had some absolute hilarious moments last night. I'm not going to give anything away other than that I rocked the hell out of "Funkytown."
Kinectimals is definitely very well made for a kid's game. I bought this one for my daughter. She's too young to really interact with it but she enjoys watching me play. They really did a great job utilizing all aspects of the Kinect functionality with this game.
I'm looking forward to picking up a fitness title, but that will probably have to wait for Christmas. As it stands, Kinect Adventures and Dance Central are more than enough to burn some calories. I didn't realize how out of shape I was until I got this thing!
My overall gut feeling is probably the same as a lot of folks - the technology is amazing, but the game library isn't mature enough yet to wholeheartedly recommend it. Still, I'm hoping we'll see some cool titles next year.

Wow 3 million by Christmas wasn't so far-fetched after all. the day before release,Microsoft changed their prediction and said 5 million by Christmas...which i guess,it could do as well....although we have what 25 days until that day?,so it would have to pull another 2.5million in 25 days again December,i guess people are thinking about getting presents more,so maybe people who have bought kinect are now gonna go out and buy one for their friends or family

Wow 3 million by Christmas wasn't so far-fetched after all. WOOO! MS knows how much overestimating figures hurts the overall stock's bottom line. If they are estimating 3M, they are pretty damn sure they are going to get it.
There are a LOT of XBros out there, bro.
But they're not going after the XBros with these launch titles. And Joey Q's mom already bought him a Wii. It's the line "sell more than 360 systems at launch" that has me baffled. And the "biggest launch in our history, for Xbox" thing. Seriously? They better start treating it as such. XBros are still totally mega-hyped, bro. Bro it's going to be sweet.

that may be shipped: A Sony representative explained that the 4.1 million actually represents Move units shipped to stores, adding "While we don't disclose our exact sell-through number, the key is that our retailers continue to ask for more Move units and are taking every unit we can supply them with based on their sales." Which, you know, would have been a cool thing to put in that press release, we think. and it probably would have fit better in the Playstation Move thread

I appreciate the hacks that people have, but is anyone other than the person who made the hack using it?
Are there other people out there who have applied the hack to play air guitar, or control hand puppets, or move Super Mario around?
I know people say: "But look at what Kinect can do! Isn't it great?" Not really. It's not doing any of that in any actual form of usage. It's like people playing Wolfenstein on the TI calculator. It's neat that it can do it, but it's not doing much else.

Sure, ignore it, but you won't be laughing when someone launches a nuclear missile using Kinect, will you?

i'm still pretty amazed by the amount of cool stuff people are doing with the hardware. even if a lot of it seems pretty basic or rough around the edges, i think it's impressive that we've seen so much creativity so quickly and can't wait to see what else shows up as people have more time to play with the technology.
