Excuse my ignorance...been away for awhile. But i'd love to finally buy a 360, but not if they're still failing. So are any of the newer-built 360's reliable?

they've gotten much better in quality.  the new 360 slim won't even give you the RRoD1, and it's designed to automatically shut down if it detects overheating.

Things are good! Yeah, many of the OOers are now here, though there's still a minority at OO. Other drifted to QuarterToThree and a few others to Popehat.com.

I've been wondering about getting a XBOX360 slim myself. I've read it doesn't have the severe overhearting failure rate it once had. So this might be the best chance to jump on it.

Ya, I like that the 360 shares many of it's games with the PC.

$200 is more affordable to me than buying a new-gen PC right now.

So the 360.....the next question would be should I buy an arcade, or go with the new one for $199? (Nonnahob, I think yours is priced above that $200, right?)

the slim is cooler, quieter (by far),  has hdmi, nice touch control buttons and is smaller than the older models.  It also comes with a 250gig hd.   I havent had any overheating issues with it either.   If you can swing the price I recommend checking into the new one.

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend getting one of the new "Slim" models.  Smaller, quieter, more energy and heat efficient, and they've got hard drives and built-in wireless.  Unless the price difference is an absolute deal-breaker, get the more complete console.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

I bought the new 4gb slim model today for $199, but I have a question......i'm assuming I should register it online with Microsoft, but does it matter if I do it from a friend's house now instead of from my own? Will MS recognize only one online address?
