I got this email the other day that these are some styles being considered for Xbox 360 face plates. Around $20 a piece was mentioned as the price.  Hard to see any detail but they all look pretty horrible. |

Just like cell phones. I'm sure the kids will love the idea, but $20 is way over-priced.
The only faceplate I really care about is a brushed silver to match the rest of my A/V equipment. Otherwise white is fine.
By the way, didn't MS give out special edition plates to those that attended the press conference? I'd like to see a pic.

to me those seem completely useless. unless you hide most of the system they will look like crap on it. you got some flashy faceplate, then just grey/white or whatevert the color is on the rest. i'll stick to default.

Many probably won't use it...but for those people that have iPods where you can get iSkins for them, they're a hot item. Microsoft is very much trying to make the 360 as versatile in outside looks as the iPod is.
Many people will take their own faceplate and make their own design as well.

They look awful. I hate the white look-I was praying for that chromed out version, but I doubt I will get any of those dumb plates.

Are you serious about them being $20? That's seems pretty crazy. If they drop it to $5 I'd consider getting one that makes the front look like an 8-bit NES.

And for Frat boys, vomit? No, not just any old vomit - it has to be Plasti-Kote vomit, or the frat boys had to have previously ingested some Plasti-Kote paint... Here's the simplest scheme that I've seen for painting your XBox case (or any console I would think) - without taking it apart - should be a lot easier for a face plate (unless the $20 one snaps onto the original, instead of swapping with it): http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/chrome-xbox.php |
