100% of your PSX games wouldn't play on 75% of my buddies PS2s... given that he's had 3 die on him. On another interesting note: Did you know that 87.6% of all statistics are made up on the spot? And only 12.4% of those are accurate.

No BC update until March, because the team was on vacation for pretty much all of January, then it would take some time to get the emulator to work on some of these other games.
It's show #154 and is really very imformative about the whole BC process. Hmm - I just listened to that and I'm sorry but I didn't hear anything like the "whole team took January off" and "no BC updates till March". What I heard David (BC manager) say was that there wouldn't be another update in december as they had a bunch of team members taking vacation for the holidays ( so we're talking christmas / new years ). Then a few minutes later major nelson said that people were excited about the clancy games in the december update as they were afraid that they would have to wait until March. So it just seems like too much of stretch for me to interpret it that way. You were saying..... It's March now, and no updates, just like I said.

It's only March 1st. Yeesh, give them some time. I suspect the time since the last bc update was spent working with Xbox1 devs to get their games to be easily compatable with the 360. Since these games are releasing after the 360's release, it's more important to have them backwards compatable as a show of support for older Xbox1 users. Of course, that's just me reasoning things out, it remains to be seen if the BC department will be that reasonable.

My point was that there would be no updates until March, which was true.

Oh well at least GRAW and Burnout arrive next week

My 360 forced a download yesterday. I wonder why...
I DID just connect my wireless adapter though, so it could be a driver thing.

It's like getting your PC games to play on your microwave oven. Hot damn! Apparently we can get PC games to play on our microwaves! Some of them at least. In all seriousness, I think that you're exaggerating a wee bit, but overall yes, since the 360 wasn't hardcoded to run the original X-Box software, then it's much more challenging to get those games to run on a 360 than it was to run PS1 games on a PS2 (since the PS2 was coded from the get-go to run in PS1 "mode") I think the bottom line for them is that they realize it's an important feature to add value to the machine, but one would be very hard-pressed to argue that it would help them sell more units at this point Seeing as I've already purchased a 360, I must agree. That said, BC is a HUGE positive mark for me, and I'm fairly anxious for them to get on the ball with this. I'd like to be able to get my X-Box out of the mess of wires I currently have.

(since the PS2 was coded from the get-go to run in PS1 "mode") Actually, there is a PS1 chip inside the PS2 that runs all the PS1 code. Sony used a hardware solution for backwards compatibility, something that MS really isn't able to do.

Well, I knew that, but I guess I didn't type it all out that accurately (referring to the PS2 as "coded" when I guess "modded/chipped" would've been a better way to phrase it).

I suspect those tiny playstations they release nearing the end of the system's lifespan ends up being the part of the hardware that they include in the next generation.

My fear is that this recent forced update is like a PSP update, and is just countering the recent strides in hacking (which would eventually alllow me to move my xbox saves to the 360-frankly, key for me).

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htmSuddenly, the list says updated Feb 06? I can't see anything new, though, and it's March. EDIT: Apparently, they added one of the Cabella hunting games. And pretended they did it in February.

Thanks, Purge. I have the mega x-key (or I did, I misplaced the part that goes into the Xbox), but it does no good. You can't transfer saves without some complicated procedure that I'm worried is going to bring Microsoft's wrath down upon me.
Oh, and I played Battlefront II first. Locked up on me in my first game. I laughed for quite a while. Everything has worked fine since then, though.
And Black looks and plays amazing on 360. It's like it was meant for it.

Well, I checked... original Ninja Gaiden works okay. Didn't notice any terrible slowdown, and had no trouble beating boss #1 on the first run through the level, so it seems to be working now. Haven't checked Forza though, which is a bigger concern to me.
