got a rrod on my elite last night after a painfully short playtime in army of two.  it froze up during a mid mission load, then hung up during boot up twice in a row.  i unhooked it and went searching for dust to clean out.  there wasn't any, so i disconnected the hd and plugged her back in.  this time, nothing.  then i look at the front.  RRoD!!!.  golden cock-monkey smash!!!  it repeated this 4 times in a row as i tried reseating the hd, removing it again, etc.  the build date is 3-19-07, or one week before a year old.

it booted fine this morning, two attempts, no playtime.  i dread turning it on tonight, but i need to know if this is it, so i can get cracking before gta 4.  at this stage, i will be missing vegas 2 launch.   icon_mad

oh yeah, and F MS!!!11

I fear my 360 is heading towards RROD. It's almost a year old. The video will sometimes cut n and out. At awesome times in rock band I might add. I hope the rumored jaspers are true and mine dies after those come out. Hopefully I'd be lucky to snag one of those.

i've only had my refurb unit back for about a month now, but a very small part of me wishes that it would die again soon.  the replacement they sent is still an old unit  (built 4/06) that just has an upgraded heat sink, and the DVD drive is noticeably louder than my original.  it would be nice to get a real upgrade...

despite a short stint with army of two working fine, it finally gave up the ghost this morning.  the coffin is on its way.  i should have waited four more days so it would be dead on it's birthday.  why it couldn't have happened a few weeks ago, who the F knows.

finally, an update.  i have a tracking # and it's sitting in a warehouse in CO right now.  expected in on the 14th, which is itself very lame considering it could have left tx on the 5th.  what, you guys took your sweet ass time making sure it was dead and missed the friday/early saturday ship times?  :grumble.

so it will have been gone a month by the time i get it back.  what the hell happened to two weeks or less?  maybe if i had called instead i could have complained enough to get improved shipping.  waiting for ground shipping sucks.

That majorly bites.  You almost need two of these things just to have that backup when your primary box dies.  Not if, but when.   Hope it gets here sooner than the 14th man.

After my original died and got sent off to M$ for fixes, I bought a refurbished one. It's been working fine for over a year, but my repaired one is sitting in emergency backup mode. In it's coffin like Dracula, waiting for the night (or RROD).

Sorry to hear it took so long.  Mine's headed out to the repair center today.  Hopefully it will be back soon.

if i were you, i would beg, borrow, or steal one as i would have no faith that it gets to TX and back before 4/29.  if i were in your shoes, my wife would have had my head on a stake after i bought a 2nd 360 the day before.

luckily, the guy from work hasn't so much as asked about getting it back.  hard to believe, but he's not crazed for gta, and still smack dab in the middle of a final fantasy marathon to bother.

and # 2 is dead, itself less than 10 months after i got it back.  it was showing signs and ringed out 4 times over the last week, but it always managed to revive itself.  this afternoon, nothing.  sadly, the support site is offline, which means you have a longer pita to slog through when you call them up.  major hassle and explaining to level 1 support always annoys me.  and it's always a treat having to repeat what you typed into the phone (why doesn't any system where you punch in a long sequence of numbers actually forward those to the tech?!).

so, i'm now waiting 3-5 days for the box.  sadly, this means i won't get to play godfather 2 when it comes out, but at least i will have a newer one back in time for sacred 2.  hopefully one with a more recent build date.

There's a reason why I always push in gibberish in those systems at work - I know they'll always reask for whatever I put in.

And here's to hope you won't get (yet another) crappy 360 on its way out as a replacement.
